Project Overview
The homeowners, both doctors, work in sterile environments with glaring lights. To relieve visual strain and reduce stress when they return home, the designer employs gray tones, faux finish, and soft lighting with diffusers. Metal elements and reflective materials, such as plating on the beams and mirrors in the foyer, were incorporated to visually enhance the sense of space and counteract any heaviness from the gray tones, adding a dynamic feel to the home. Large windows introduce abundant natural light and fresh air, completing this health-conscious and low energy-consuming residence.

Project Brief
The aim of this project is to create a living space suitable for the lifestyle of two doctors, giving them a home where they can relax both physically and mentally, with a focus on specifically eye health.
Using materials and colors inspired by nature, the designer created a modern yet subdued interior, combating the high-tension work environment with the use of gray and gentle lighting.
The designer found inspiration in the Taroko Gorge, one of Taiwan’s many natural wonders. Rock-colored walls made with faux finish create a harmonious, organic space. The abstract imagery of ocean waves becomes the lines on the marble stone TV walls, adding visual rhythm.
In the bedroom, where Turkish blue curtains bring about a luxurious mystique. The floor’s herringbone parquet gives this room its own unique atmosphere by contrasting with the flooring used in other rooms in the residence.
This designer chooses materials based on the ease of maintenance and longevity. Kronotex flooring is selected for its excellent durability. Non-toxic melamine boards are used on the wall behind the sofa, its high dirt resistance reduces the accumulation of allergens in the space.
The large sofa accommodates the homeowner's love of inviting friends and is perfect for gazing into the mountains and greenery afar through the window in a relaxing afternoon.
Project Need
The designer uses gray tones and diffused lighting to soften the visual of the space. Natural lighting, combined with metallic and reflective materials, prevents the room from feeling dim, this includes matte and mirrored storage cabinets. The ceiling beams are clad in metal to reduce their heaviness, and the slight reflection adds a dynamic touch. Rust-effect paint provides an organic feel, achieving a perfect balance between natural ruggedness and modern home elegance.
Design Challenge
To achieve optimal lighting for eye comfort while providing sufficient illumination, numerous trials were conducted before choosing the perfect light fixtures which features diffusion and the color temperature of 3500K.
Meticulous planning was made to achieve the unique need of the clients. the designer blended the clients’ love for textures with the natural style of the studio, creating a refreshing aesthetics.
Sustainability
The designer selected non-toxic and durable materials, such as low-formaldehyde panels and eco-friendly paint.
With natural light coming from three sides, the space remains bright even with gray tones. During the day, there's no need for artificial lighting, taking full advantage of Taiwan's long daylight hours, making the home both energy-efficient and comfortable. The large windows also ensure that the space is well-ventilated, allowing residents to enjoy a healthy environment.
