Project Brief
The first "XINTING SHIMMER FESTIVAL" exhibition uses the concept of "light waves" and combines the waters of Swan Lake, an important national wetland, and its surrounding environment. Highlight the integration of lake light and water waves. The artist's creation explores the modes of encounter, overlap and reconstruction of light and shadow, guiding the audience to experience the rich local cultural landscape.
Project Innovation/Need
To enrich the construction of the area north of the Jishui River District in Tainan City, Taiwan, and promote the cultural hub of the area north of the Jishui River, we have chosen XinYing. For the first time, we integrate the overall development of the cultural watershed, the management of the natural fluid water system, and the novel sensory experience of an art school. This resulted in the creation of the inaugural XINING SHIMMER FESTIVAL, aiming to develop a distinctive local cultural lantern festival brand. The festival nurtures a vibrant Wetland Light Festival, establishing a grand event that combines art and culture.
Design Challenge
The difficulty lies in the fact that it is a public sector project, which requires a very short time and needs to be completed quickly, and with limited funds, the lighting unit must be installed in a pond with a water depth of 6 meters.
Sustainability
Artist Huang Wenyuan, inspired by the elegance of lotus flowers and leaves, utilized driftwood and drift bamboo, along with woven fabrics and rope structures, to create the installation “Lotus Sowing/He-Shi.”
“At this time. now” emerges from this inspiration, grounded in natural media and intricately combined with oyster shells and aluminium sheets. The artwork, swaying with the wind, invites viewers to step closer and immerse themselves in the dynamic tranquillity of this harmonious blend of light, shadow, wave, and motion.
