Project Overview
This installation is a representation of a dream like cloud formation. Inspired by spring air and the change of seasons, it is designed to evoke a sense of imagination through the play of light, shade and fluid organic forms.

Project Brief
A roll of tracing paper is crumpled, scrunched then woven through a galvanized wire forming the backbone of the design and allowing the overall form to meander through the space in a floating dreamlike state. Hints of raindrops are further added through a simple geometry made up of car tyre tubing that is slithered then tied back together as an elegant droplet form.
Designed as an art form, its role amongst its context is to soften the space and engage the user with a sense of dialogue. The geometry created through the scrunched tracing paper and the overall form provides a subtle connection to origami forms so synonymous with Lexus’s Japanese heritage.
Project Need
The installation uses a typical design studio's medium being drawing tracing paper and car tyre tubes and re-invents them to create a cloudscape called 'Noctilucent Dreams' that hovers above the room and expresses the designers’ need to dream in order to create. The installation was somewhat a fragment inside the designers' mind whilst at the same time taking ordinary mediums and re-inventing them into new art forms.
Design Challenge
Most challenging aspect of the installation was meeting fire regulations and specifications whilst still staying true to the initial design vision. Using paper to such a scale in a public space was not an easy task. Adding back lighting to the installation was seemingly impossible at one stage, but when there's a will there's a way and after much research and material testing we finally kicked a goal and met all criteria required to meet all safety requirements.
Sustainability
All products were selected specifically for their recycling qualities.
