Project Brief
Designed by Fiona Winzar, the Zen Den offers a sanctuary for legal professionals amidst the urban hustle. Bathed in natural light and boasting panoramic city views, this space combines elegance with functionality to create an environment where productivity thrives.
Every detail, from custom hand-finished mirrors to warm wooden floorboards and Tasmanian oak joinery, is meticulously curated to enhance the overall ambiance and elevate the client experience. The floorboards are laid east-west, exaggerating the length of the twin tenancy, while beautiful acoustic timber ceiling battens to mirror the floorboard direction, creating a virtually uninterrupted surface.
Project Innovation/Need
The Zen Den introduces novel approaches to design and functionality, prioritizing energy efficiency, acoustic comfort, and aesthetic coherence. The integration of east-west laid floorboards and matching Tasmanian oak joinery, complemented by beautiful acoustic timber ceiling battens, reflects a commitment to innovative design and meeting the needs of modern professionals.
Design Challenge
Balancing tranquility with functionality while meeting the demands of the legal profession was the primary challenge. Meticulous attention to materials, layout, and acoustic considerations ensured a conducive environment for work and client meetings.
Sustainability
The Zen Den embraces sustainability through various measures, including energy-efficient design elements, local sourcing of materials, and environmentally friendly practices. The integration of high-performance thermal envelopes and acoustic paneling in the ceiling enhances energy efficiency and acoustic comfort, contributing to the space's sustainability and well-being. The use of Tasmanian oak joinery and the layout of floorboards demonstrate a commitment to sustainable and aesthetically coherent design.
