Project Brief

The architects have aimed for a simple yet low-key design that beautifully complements and blends in with the neighborhood. The project provides a serene living space that takes full advantage of the breathtaking scenic landscape, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. It's a place where people can enjoy all the modern conveniences of the city while also experiencing the tranquil isolation of a peaceful sanctuary.

Project Innovation/Need

The building’s appearance is truly breathtaking, bringing together the rugged texture of fair-faced concrete and the warm texture of natural wood panels in perfect harmony. The architects' meticulous planning of the functional spaces is evident, with careful consideration given to the effects of different architectural orientations. The main living area is strategically located on the east side of the hill, providing ample natural light and reduced noise from the bustling traffic below. On the other hand, the balcony's curvature closely mimics the rolling mountain ridges, creating a stunning visual that seamlessly blends with the natural environment.

Design Challenge

On the west side, a sloping wall panel design maximizes the sun shading and filtering effect, effectively reducing the impact of the sun's rays on the living space. The vertical timber and horizontal steel lines on the façade are nothing short of a work of art, further enhancing the building's aesthetic appeal. The horizontal steel frame also doubles up as a space for climbing plants, which helps to lower indoor temperatures and reduce the need for air conditioning, ultimately resulting in energy-saving and carbon-reducing benefits.

Sustainability

The skilled architects responsible for designing this magnificent building in a bustling city have taken great pains to ensure that its occupants will feel welcomed and at ease. With meticulous attention to detail, the design team has carefully considered the land's capacity, taking great care to minimize development and reduce carbon emissions. Implementing the innovative concept of vertical greening, which utilizes multi-layered planting in public spaces, has effectively reduced the urban heat island effect. The project owner has also taken significant steps to preserve the natural environment by adopting the mountain forest behind the building from the outset of the design. This ensures that a high-quality living environment and air quality are maintained while allowing for effective management of the landscape planning on the east side of the building. Consequently, residents can revel in the stunning views while maintaining a perfect balance between humanity and nature.
