Project Overview

Designing a space involves considering many factors, including its purpose, materials, skill, cost, appearance, style, and meaning. For this project, the designer and owner had a thorough conversation about planning the entire residence according to the owner's life story and desires. This resulted in a spacious common area for entertaining guests and carefully selected furniture that contributes to a refined and elegant living environment for the residents.

Project Brief

The living room, dining room, kitchen, and art gallery are integrated through an open layout, creating a space for residents to communicate and interact with each other, promoting positive emotions. Furthermore, the design incorporates a progressive line layout, ensuring smooth movement throughout the space. Glass sliding doors define the study area, and connect to the shared living space, while maintaining a sense of openness and independence. For the shared living space, the designer plans earthy colors as a base, with various materials, such as dark tiles and wallpaper, conveying a sense of depth. The marble flooring, with interspersed metal lines, adds a touch of luxury. On the other hand, a TV wall is designed to balance the weight of the space, creating a light visual effect. The built-in fireplace under the TV promotes a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the residents' daily life.

Project Need

The designer utilized the line element to plan a distinctive display area that provides storage and adds a touch of artistic vibe. The sliding door opens into the master's study, where a dark gray base helps the user to relax and concentrate. The private living area features dark earth tones as the primary scheme, with warm wood tones creating a tranquil and serene atmosphere, ensuring that the couple enjoys a sweet and comfortable sleep. The master bathroom features a flooring design incorporating a high ground difference, forming a slope for water leakage. This design allows water to be contained without needing a glass door.

Design Challenge

The interior of this space has been meticulously designed to maximize its functionality. The layout has been carefully planned to accommodate a range of activities. The lighting scheme is subtle and tasteful, featuring indirect lighting and elegant lamps that create a soothing and inviting atmosphere. Using grilles and curved lines adds depth to the space, lending it a sense of layering. The residence is on a high floor with large windows that allow natural light to flood in, providing illumination during the day without electric lights.

Sustainability

The space is fitted with low-power LED lighting to further reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. Additionally, the designers have made a conscious effort to use eco-friendly building materials, including low-formaldehyde paints and anti-allergenic soft furnishings, to ensure a healthy and safe living environment for the occupants.
