Project Overview

This project involved renovating a previously owned house. Initially, the owner wanted to expand the original layout and add basic living functions. However, after several rounds of communication and negotiation, the owner decided to adopt a new living model for a fresh start. The first step was demolishing some partitions and combining the living and dining rooms to create a large shared space. This allows for versatility in the use of the space and encourages social interaction.

Project Brief

Upon entering the home, one's senses are immediately captivated by the distinct flooring in the entrance hall. The varied materials utilized in its construction were thoughtfully chosen to evoke a shift in mood for those returning or departing. Emanating from the shared area are the hospitable vibes of the homeowner, with its dual dining tables perfectly positioned for hosting loved ones. Harmoniously linking the two spaces is the TV wall extension, which creates a seamless flow throughout the area.

Project Need

The shared dining table is multipurpose and can be utilized for work or reading, encouraging familial interaction. The layout and movement of each area is thoughtfully organized, reducing any unnecessary movements or stress. Overall, this design offers inhabitants a chance to explore new experiences and unique living styles, while also providing a glimpse into the potential for future development and growth in the home.

Design Challenge

The architectural design of the building is centered around a key element - the extensive use of windows to allow natural light to filter in. This not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the building but also reduces the need for artificial lighting, thereby promoting energy efficiency. The open layout of the building is further complemented by a minimal number of interior partitions, which not only adds to the spaciousness of the building but also enhances the circulation of natural light throughout the space.

Sustainability

Moreover, the windows and reflective glass film are intelligently utilized to block outdoor heat, thus reducing the energy consumption of the building. The building materials have been carefully chosen to prioritize the well-being of the residents, while minimizing the impact on the environment. Eco-friendly materials with low formaldehyde levels have been used to reduce harmful substance emissions and create a comfortable living environment for the residents.

The energy-saving features incorporated into the building's design are a testament to the builder's commitment to leaving a sustainable world for future generations. All these design elements work in tandem to make the building an exemplar of energy efficiency and environmental consciousness.
