Project Brief

The design caters to various needs such as spacious riding floors, separate pedestrian and vehicular lanes, eco-friendly green spaces, top-notch safety measures, disaster prevention planning, and intelligent building solutions. All these features come together to create a luxurious, comfortable, and high-quality living environment that has immense potential for future development. Taking into account the rainy climate and strong sunshine, the team installed a veranda specifically designed to provide shelter from both the sun and rain for pedestrians. This not only caters to the needs of the residents but also complements the layout of the stores on the first floor.

Project Innovation/Need

It provides a comfortable place for commercial activities, thereby continuing the original function of the area. Furthermore, to ensure the safety of the residents, the team implemented a design that separates pedestrian and vehicle lanes. The driveway entrance and exit were also moved back by 4.6 meters to create a buffer space and provide better visibility for vehicles entering and exiting the building. Additionally, the driveway entrance is equipped with a waterproof gate that effectively resists flooding and prevents residents from suffering losses to their lives and properties. Moreover, a rooftop garden on the top floor of the building serves a dual purpose. It provides a lush green resting place for residents, while also taking advantage of the plants' natural abilities to purify dust, absorb carbon dioxide, and generate oxygen. This serves to mitigate the urban heat island effect, regulate microclimate, and increase water retention and energy conservation, thus providing environmental benefits.

Design Challenge

The project's appearance is unique and departs from traditional architectural forms by extending the building's proportions with vertical columns. The columns and beams add visual richness to the building's appearance. The body of the building is covered with beige-gray tiled bricks, creating a stable image. The curved corners of the building soften the relationship between the building and the neighboring buildings. Moreover, the black and white grille design on the outside of the air-conditioning unit on the front and back façade enhance the sense of visual rhythm. It also shields the unit from direct sunlight, increasing the lifespan of the home appliances.

The vertical and horizontal line design of the building and the layout of the light sources are continued inward to the public space. This design can effectively extend the visual width and height of the space. The vertical and horizontal line design also echoes with the indoor space. Additionally, the local lighting design makes the visual space more three-dimensional and makes the decorative lighting a bright spot in the space.

Sustainability

As environmental awareness is increasing, the project has taken various measures to incorporate environmentally friendly building materials, practices, and technologies. Firstly, over 45% of green materials were used in the interior decoration. Secondly, water-saving toilets are installed to reduce water wastage. Additionally, green spaces and drying racks are provided on the rooftops of the buildings, which not only serve as functional living spaces but also provide sunlight and greenery, achieving the objectives of Net Zero, promoting sustainability, and enhancing the greenhouse effect. This creates a safe, convenient, healthy, and environmentally friendly living space for the residents to enjoy.
