Project Overview
Contemporary residential design is not just about aesthetics. It is about creating a living space that aligns with the residents' unique preferences, functional needs, and life trajectory. It also needs to satisfy the growing demand for ecological and environmental protection. With budget and time constraints in mind, this project incorporated low-cost dark wood wallpaper to meet the owner's desire for beauty. Additionally, the spatial pattern and movement were planned carefully to improve the original poor movement and insufficient lighting in the space. The owner's passion for collecting artworks was also taken into account. The designer deployed the right colors and materials and planned several storage and display spaces to accommodate the owner's extensive collection. Apart from the owner's lifestyle, the designers also made use of recyclable wall coverings, existing decorations and furniture to achieve sustainable environmental protection. In doing so, they were able to create the perfect residential style that the owner had envisioned.

Project Brief
As soon as one steps inside the house, one will be greeted by a spacious, open living area that instantly creates a sense of calmness and airiness. The dark color scheme that has been used throughout the living area doesn't feel imposing or oppressive, thanks to the clever use of space and the natural lighting that floods in through the windows. The wood grain wallpaper that adorns the walls is truly a work of art, created by the designer's expert vector graphic design skills. The wallpaper's pattern follows the layout of each wall, creating a cohesive and unified visual effect that blends perfectly with the rest of the living area.
Project Need
The living room is a perfect example of how different styles of furniture can be seamlessly integrated to create a harmonious visual effect. Mahogany display cabinets, copper TV cabinets, wooden tables, and leather chairs have all been placed in a way that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing. The designer has also created several display and storage cabinets for the owner, including glass cabinets and wall cabinets, all of which have been customized to accommodate the owner's existing collection at the beginning of the design process. This not only maximizes spatial efficiency but also makes the living area a space for art and culture, as well as a place for rest.
Design Challenge
The designer's attention to detail is evident even in the private realm of the house. The master bedroom has been decorated in a style that is in perfect harmony with the public realm, creating a sense of continuity and unity throughout the space. A desk by the window and a mirrored wall on the other side of the room allow natural light to flood into the room, creating a bright and airy living space that feels spacious and welcoming. Additionally, ventilators and dryers have been installed in the ground floor display area to properly preserve the owner's 30-year-old collection of animal skins, demonstrating the designer's commitment to preserving the owner's treasured possessions.
Sustainability
Environmental awareness is on the rise, and this residential design incorporates a variety of eco-friendly materials and measures while prioritizing aesthetics and practicality. For instance, the homeowner's current furniture and decor are utilized to reduce the need for new purchases, thus reducing over-consumption of resources and increasing environmental benefits. Recyclable wall coverings are used which can be converted into pillows or coasters during future moves, fulfilling the environmental goal of recycling. Additionally, fireproof, moisture-proof, moth-proof, and sound-proof calcium silicate panels are used to enhance the durability and safety of the home. Furthermore, low formaldehyde and low VOC environmental protection paints are used to create a healthy and sustainable living environment for the residents.
