Project Overview
In light of the homeowner's deep appreciation for music, art, and literature, this project unfolds as a celebration of stability and elegance. The vision is to infuse the home with a sophisticated artistic culture that embodies the designer's philosophy of prioritizing the needs and comfort of its occupants. Recognizing the owner's desire for a dedicated space for piano playing and studying, along with the intent to preserve the integrity of the original layout, the designer skillfully crafted a harmonious integration of these areas with minimal alterations to the existing structure. Through meticulous planning and innovative design solutions, the project not only satisfies modern living requirements but also enhances the overall flow and connectivity of the spaces. The end result is a refined, inviting home that resonates with the homeowner’s tastes and lifestyle, creating an exquisite balance of function and artistry tailored specifically to their needs.

Project Brief
The design of the foyer features a marble and titanium-plated metal partition that evokes the image of black and white piano keys, symbolizing the homeowner's appreciation for music. The music room is constructed with three layers of soundproofing materials, ensuring that musical activities do not disturb neighbouring residents while also providing exceptional sound quality. The incorporation of high-quality soundproof doors and curtains on all sides further enhances the room's functionality and privacy. Additionally, a movable sliding door has been installed between the music room and the living room, facilitating a flexible division of public and private areas and optimizing the overall use of space.
The selection of flooring materials within the interior design effectively illustrates a deliberate division of space. The public areas are finished with grey stone-patterned ceramic tiles, which foster a contemporary and minimalist atmosphere. Conversely, the private spaces showcase hand-scraped wooden floors, imparting a sense of natural warmth and texture.
Project Innovation/Need
The homeowner envisions a living room that radiates a serene and scholarly atmosphere. To bring this vision to fruition, the designer has skillfully chosen an array of natural building materials, such as warm stone and rich wood veneer, which collectively create a space imbued with humanistic and artistic qualities. The television wall, adorned with natural marble featuring a beautifully textured surface, harmonizes elegantly with the design of the sofa's back wall, establishing a cohesive and visually appealing environment.
The lighting design plays a crucial role in enhancing the ambience, employing magnetic track lights that are not only sleek in their aesthetic but also offer a soft and inviting glow. These lights are characterized by their versatility; they can be easily installed and removed, providing residents with the flexibility to adjust the illumination according to their specific needs. This thoughtful integration of materials and lighting ensures that the living room is not only functional but also a truly captivating space for both relaxation and intellectual engagement.
Design Challenge
The master bedroom has been thoughtfully designed in the homeowner's preferred colour, blue. The wall situated behind the bed is upholstered with Prussian blue fabric, while the division created by the steel bar lamp evokes the appearance of piano keys, thus contributing to a subtle sense of layering within the environment. To adequately meet the homeowner's storage requirements, a stylish glass cabinet has been incorporated to display clothing and accessories, merging practicality with aesthetic value. Additionally, a black mirrored door and a full-length mirror are positioned at the entrance of the dressing room, while glass door panels flanking both sides of the cabinet enhance the overall visual perception, rendering the space more open, transparent, and luminous.
The semi-high headboard in the second bedroom effectively maximizes natural light while addressing feng shui considerations related to the alignment of the headboard beam and window. Furthermore, the wall space serves a dual purpose by providing storage solutions. Additionally, light strips have been strategically installed at the top of the stairs in the sleeping area, functioning as a night light to enhance the safety and security of the residence during nighttime hours.
Sustainability
To establish an environmentally friendly and sustainable residence, this project incorporates KD's environmentally friendly polypropylene (PP) panel, marble, large tiles, painted veneer board, titanium-plated metal board, and various other eco-sensitive building materials. These selected materials not only possess the attributes of being environmentally friendly, healthy, and non-toxic but also demonstrate superior durability.
This increased durability serves to minimize the likelihood of damage that would necessitate replacement or repair, thus reducing the potential for unnecessary resource wastage. Moreover, the implementation of an open layout and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows facilitates the influx of natural light and fresh air into the interior space. This architectural approach diminishes the dependency on artificial lighting and air conditioning while simultaneously enhancing indoor air quality. Consequently, this design fosters a healthy living environment for the residents.
