The Village Menangle by Mirvac Sales Centre
Pop-Ups, Display, Exhibit & Set Design | Commissioner: Mirvac Design | Creator: Mirvac Design
The sales centre for Mirvac’s new residential community, The Village Menangle, is an old 1920s built workers cottage located within the site.
The intent of the sales centre for The Village was to achieve a high-quality design outcome that complements the natural landscape and rural village character of Menangle.
Challenges needed to be overcome in order to achieve this brief, such as the dilapidated condition of the cottage that lacked structural integrity and posed a health and safety risk and managing the heritage significance.
In addition, the internal layout of the cottage was not ideal for use as a sales centre due to the multiple small rooms and narrow entry hallway.
Prefabrication construction techniques were used to reconstruct the cottage, the existing brick chimneys were retained and The Village Menangle’s branding colours were incorporated, creating a cohesive sales experience that welcomes people to Mirvac’s new community in one of the Macarthur Area’s hidden gems.

Pavilions Residences by Mirvac
Environmental Design | Commissioner: Mirvac Residential | Creator: Mirvac Residential
An industry-first apartment at Mirvac’s Pavilions development in Sydney Olympic Park has been constructed using ‘green ceramics’, and has become a blueprint for how future development can join the circular economy in ways that are desirable, feasible and scalable.
These green ceramics, manufactured from waste glass and textiles, are an innovation born from collaboration between Mirvac and the University of NSW Centre of Sustainable Materials Research and Technology (SMaRT), led by global pioneer in waste technology, Professor Veena Sahajwalla.
The collaboration pioneers a way to revolutionise the construction industry by producing an entirely new built-environment material from waste that would otherwise find its way to landfill.
Green ceramics are produced at SMaRT Centre’s MICROfactorie™ by reforming problematic waste materials through a combination of heat and compression.
The Pavilions apartment is the first time these green ceramics have been used as a construction material in a residential setting, as floor and wall tiles, kitchen-island fronts, light-fittings, furniture and artworks.
The apartment was designed by Mirvac Design. Pavilions’ project team conducted extensive testing of the sample materials, modifying the green ceramic products in collaboration with the SMaRT Centre until they satisfied the relevant building codes, Mirvac’s stringent quality requirements, and without compromising Mirvac Design’s vision.
The apartment’s design excellence demonstrates a new, viable circularity for waste materials and has the potential to deliver impact at scale.
As a next step, Mirvac is investigating opportunities to create additional microfactories to locally manufacture green ceramics at its future projects.

Landscape Design | Commissioner: Mirvac Residential | Creator: Mirvac Residential
As a multi-residential development, Pavilions has reimagined urban life at Sydney Olympic Park, and its landscape design has proved integral to its design excellence and ultimate success. At the gateway to the rejuvenated Sydney Olympic Park precinct, four buildings embrace their scale and diversity to sit proudly in the landscape, oriented around 4500sqm of open gardens.
This tapestry of central green space serves to retain a 20-metre view corridor through the site and maximise northern aspects and scenic views from apartments.
Landscape architecture by 360 Degrees seamlessly integrates an internal network of pocket parks, shaded seating, dining pavilions, bocce lawn, kitchen garden, children’s playground and barbecue area via a network of walkways, soft edges and tree canopies. Focused on user emotions, the garden design promotes both social interaction and moments of private enjoyment. Viewed from the apartments above, the geometry makes an equally compelling outlook.
Three huge and historic Moreton Bay fig trees define Pavilions’ urban design at its perimeter, connecting past and present, resident and community, nature and built form. Two trees dominate the active Australia Avenue frontage, providing canopy for a new public green fringed by 1500sqm of retail.
Along Figtree Avenue the streetscape is verdant and activated. The terrace typology at the base of the high-rise buildings is fronted by lush garden courtyards to soften edges and hard fencing, blurring the visual distinction between public and private space.

Architecture - Multi Residence (10+ floors) - Constructed | Commissioner: Mirvac Residential | Creator: Mirvac Residential
Pavilions has reimagined urban life at Sydney Olympic Park in line with the government’s vision for a revitalised town centre.
Mirvac collaborated closely with Sydney Olympic Park Authority to deliver high-quality housing and infrastructure that would shift the precinct’s identity beyond recreation/elite achievement to a place that feels like home.
In a competition-winning concept by BVN, with detailed design by Mirvac Design, four diverse residential buildings are oriented around 4500sqm of open gardens. The varied skyline and mix of warm materiality, including face brick, create a distinctly domestic ambience.
Mirvac’s largest-ever single-stage residential project was completed on time and within budget in October 2020, despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, delivering 690 apartments/terraces (380 build-to-sell, the rest build-to-rent) and 1500sqm of retail space.
Lavish attention has been paid to the welcome-home experience, with a grand colonnade entry plus a landscaped ground plane encouraging both social interaction and private enjoyment. Privacy and security are balanced with connectivity to public streets and community spaces.
Many sustainability measures have been implemented, from passive design to efficient fixtures and 1200 bicycle racks. Pavilions is also home to an industry-first apartment constructed using ‘green ceramics’ manufactured from waste – a blueprint for how future development can join the circular economy.
Meanwhile, the outstanding amenities offered for tenant residents are highly flexible/adaptable to changing needs. Further, the ample on-site green space plus proximity of food, services, employment, recreation and transport within a walkable catchment will help to sustain a safe and resilient community in future.
The Urban Jungle - Broadway Shopping Centre Playground
Interior Design - Public or Institutional | Commissioner: Mirvac | Creator: Three Fishes Interior Design
The Urban Jungle Playspace at Broadway is a bespoke Children's Playground for 0-5 year olds. The playground combines the philosophy of play as a safe way to challenge the child's sensory, imaginative & physical experiences with providing an opportunity for transformative learning.
Children have a sensory need to taste danger & excitement. This doesn't mean encouraging dangerous play, moreso to encourage the feeling that they are taking a risk. Now, more than ever, Children need to learn to negotiate risk which teaches them how to arrive at sound decisions. The Urban Jungle playground, at its core, allows for safe interaction & play whilst engaging in the conceptual story created around the Urban Heart.
The Urban Heart is a journey through:
Home - to honour our connection to the home & "village" we live in
Heart - a place to feel nurtured & supported in our uniqueness - a reminder to connect to our emotions, our values & the heart space - all essential for responding beyond just the thinking mind
Adventure - experiencing new terrain, the challenges of adventure & learning to find balance in your life.
Future - by using the foundation of home & heart we have the confidence & ability to face life's challenges & evolve in our future dreams.
Through these concepts, we created a journey through the playspace where children can challenge & test themselves, encouraging them to try new things to discover what they can achieve.
