Project Brief

This project was commissioned for a 1,400 square-foot flat during the rough-in stage. Designed for a surfer and husband-to-be, the theme revolves around life’s day-to-say fascination and romance, symbolized by curves of waves and wholeness of circle.
An idea carried through spatial terms citing open-view, functionality, furnishings, fixtures and lighting. This household’s solid temperament and cozy atmosphere are built around sufficient natural lighting and carefully chosen materials (oak-wood panels, stone tiles, woven textiles, special paints, etc.). The many thoughtful details also include, among others, elevated floor for multi-function areas, extra lavatory and shower room for visitors, balloon-shaped wall lamps for kid’s room, upholstered wall panels for the master bedroom.

Project Need

Application of arcs and curves ingeniously softens and broadens visual attributes. That, on one hand, serves to orientate smooth spatial flow, while expressing metaphor of wavy vibes on the other.
Sparks of creativity find ways through open-plan layout, uninterrupted movement flows and correlation of living and dining zones. As if outdoor scenes brought within the context of interior space, a home is thereby a gallery exhibiting the many expressions of life as artwork.

Design Challenge

A human-centered design is always beyond appeal to the eye.
Consideration and efforts were made to achieve both aesthetic charm and functionality in delivering the theme around ‘curves’, a symbol echoing the owner’s passion for surfing. A style made tangible and practical through details of hallway ceiling, vertical surfaces, lighting arrangements as well as outlines of bar counter.

Sustainability

By chosen materials of latex paint, wood flooring, metal frames, marble, upholstery etc., the design calls upon neutral color palettes, soft lighting, supple touch of furniture and calmness of orderly lines to pave the basic tonality of this newly-weds’ home.
The progressive change of materials in harmony adds to design subtlety that delivers a sense of balance and mutual respect. Such is what we aim for an ideal residence, a home filled with warmth, mood and vitality of people, nature and surroundings.
