Summary
Everyday nature inspires my work. In a world that is becoming filled with technology, we are so lucky to still have the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the smaller simple things in life!
I take photos and turn them into little brooches so everyone can wear some nature, guilt free!
Please note no animals were hurt in the process! Animals posed in their natural environment without any encouragement. Let’s face it nature loves to show off!

Inspiration/Method
A photograph can provoke such emotions; it captures a moment in time. I love that I can capture these moments that are often passed by too quickly as we rush around doing our daily routines. It is nice to slow down and capture a moment that can then last a lifetime. The brooches are inspired from real moments in time, the Woodland series photos were taken in Chicago and Denver whilst travelling in the USA in 2012 and the Little Nest series photos were taken in QLD. I love taking photos of nature in their natural environment. From the photos I then edit to create beautiful hand made full colour and simple graphic series that become brooches so that everyone can wear a bit of nature, guilt free.
Design Challenge
My idea came about while I was travelling around the USA in 2012. People were rushing around, too busy to notice their surroundings and nature. I wanted to capture moments of nature and its interaction with the man made world and share with people these fractions of time that we all to often pass by. It is about communicating to people that whilst we rush around in our busy lives nature is also getting on with their daily life of survival. Communicating that it is ok to slow down from our busy lives and take some time out to enjoy our nature and parks. These brooches are real moments in time and I want people to be able to relate to the images and evoke a feeling when they look at and wear the brooches.
