Project Overview

Following the successful opening of the first CUTO KIDS CAFE in Wentworth Point in 2021, which was honored with a design award, we are thrilled to announce that TIAN DESIGN has once again been chosen to design the second CUTO KIDS CAFE in 2023. In addition, CUTO KIDS CAFE has now become a franchise, expanding its presence to Melbourne and other cities, marking the beginning of a wider chain of locations.

Project Brief

The overall design continues the enchanting ocean theme of the original CUTO KIDS CAFE in Wentworth Point, immersing visitors in a world of childhood wonder. Upon entering, guests are greeted by the signature ceiling main lighting feature and the seamless circulation and functionality that define our spaces. However, the most striking difference in this new location is the introduction of a unique green color scheme, distinct from the common greens seen elsewhere. Additionally, we have reimagined the shopfront and main features, presenting them with fresh and innovative designs.

Project Innovation/Need

One of the most intriguing and innovative aspects of our design is the use of a transparent acrylic feature on the ceiling. This marks a departure from the wooden ceiling used in the CUTO Wentworth Point location. While the use of acrylic presented additional construction challenges, it significantly enhanced the spatial dynamics and amplified the enchanting atmosphere. This novel approach not only distinguishes our design but also elevates the overall experience, creating a more immersive and magical environment for our young visitors.

Design Challenge

While designing the CUTO Banks Town shop, we simultaneously embarked on the design for the CUTO Melbourne shop. Considering that CUTO has become a franchise, one of the major challenges was ensuring that customers could experience the distinctive CUTO branding at every location while also enjoying a unique visual experience at each one. At TIAN DESIGN, we are committed to infusing each project with fresh creativity, even for franchise stores. This meant finding a balance between maintaining brand consistency and creating individual identities for each store, ensuring that every CUTO location offers something special and memorable.

Sustainability

Given that CUTO KIDS CAFE is a high-traffic play area for children, durability and ease of maintenance were top priorities. Leveraging our experience from the first store, we meticulously selected materials for their longevity and resistance to wear and tear. This careful consideration ensures that the space remains safe and visually appealing over time. Additionally, at the entrance, we implemented a unique double entry system specifically designed for kids, enhancing safety for young visitors. These sustainable choices not only contribute to a lower environmental impact but also ensure the economic sustainability of the café by reducing the need for frequent repairs and replacements.
