The Beidao Bed blends poetry and practicality in its design. The streamlined finish of the bed's upper part is as elegant as a magnolia petal, thick yet lightweight in quality, displaying a unique aesthetic and comfort. The soft backrest, reminiscent of blown-up cotton, is soft, comfortable, and taut, providing comfortable support and relaxation for the user, creating a piece of furniture that is comfortable to sit, lean and lie on. The integrated storage space at the bottom of the bed demonstrates practicality and adds convenience to home life.
The Beidao Bed's frame section is made from natural black walnut wood, emphasizing sustainability. The grain and color of the black walnut wood add warmth and familiarity to the overall design. The grain of the wood is complemented by the first layer of cowhide leather, creating the perfect balance between hardness and softness.

Project Brief

With innovation and practicality at the center of its design philosophy, Beidao Bed aims to subvert the traditional solid wood bed form and create a light, soft, and dreamy solid wood bed experience. Inspired by a blend of natural and contemporary elements, the design pursues clean lines and smooth shapes, avoiding superfluous embellishments and highlighting a modern, minimalist aesthetic. Key design features of the bed include the large 96° soft backrest, a design that not only reduces fragmentation and finesse but also wraps and surrounds the user with a smooth, large form that creates an atmospheric, beautiful, and dynamic design language. This design makes the bed not only suitable for sitting and reclining but also comfortable for lying down, creating a spatial feeling for users to enjoy cloud-like tranquillity and good times. The design of Beidao Bed's bedside helpers also takes special consideration of the details, such as the use of a 280mm ultra-wide arc to fit the calf arc, effectively preventing bumps and enhancing the safety and comfort of use. In addition, the one-piece storage design at the bottom of the bed makes full use of the space without taking up extra space, realizing loose and flexible storage without intervals, providing users with additional storage capacity, and enhancing the practicality and functionality of the bed. Through its innovative design concept and practical structural features, the Beidao Bed brings users a comfortable, aesthetic, and powerful furniture experience, which meets the modern home's dual pursuit of aesthetics and practicality. practicality.

Project Innovation/Need

Beidao Bed's design focuses on the pure texture of traditional wood, eschewing the complexity of modern design and concentrating on clean lines in pursuit of the sense of freedom and comfort of a solid wood bed. The bed is designed with an atmospheric and soft 1020mm sofa-like backrest, which not only enhances the overall visual effect of the bed but also fulfills the modern need for comfort and security. The solidity of the wood material combined with the soft, warm backrest design provides users with a sleeping experience that is both stable and comfortable. Practicality is demonstrated by the integrated storage space at the bottom of the bed, which not only adds a unique look to the bed but also meets the quality requirements of modern living by providing additional storage space.
The Beidao Bed presents both modern and cozy qualities through its minimalist lines and balanced combination of wood and leather. Not only does it become the focal point of the bedroom space, but it also ensures superior comfort, providing the user with an ideal place to rest.

Design Challenge

Beidao Bed conducted extensive market research prior to design, comparing a number of mainstream solid wood beds, and identified a key issue: the challenge of how to utilize solid wood materials to create a softness that would enhance the comfort of the bed. In addition, there was a need to solve the problem of insufficient storage space, which is common in modern bedrooms. After repeated design modeling and testing, the 96° soft backrest design was finalized to achieve the light and comfortable experience of a solid wood bed. And through the integrated storage design at the bottom of the bed, not only does it not take up extra space, but also provides users with additional storage capacity.

Sustainability

The bed is made of North American black walnut, a material known for its hardness and beautiful wood grain. Birch wood is used in the bed's ribs section, which is encrypted and arranged to not only increase the overall load-bearing capacity but also to extend the life of the mattress. This design takes into account the solidity and durability of the structure but also focuses on the choice of natural materials and the effectiveness of their use. North American black walnut and birch are both natural materials, and their use is environmentally friendly as they do not cause permanent pollution or significant carbon emissions. The use of these materials in the bed body gradually reveals an elegant and original texture through the wood's natural respiration and years of use, a process that adds to the bed's unique charm and warmth.
