Project Overview

Baby Octopus Organic Functional Shoes draw inspiration from the octopus. This product applies bionic technology to incorporate bionic octopus suction cups into the abrasion-resistant anti-slip rubber outsoles to enhance slip resistance. It utilizes cushioned resilient midsoles for exceptional lightweight, softness, and cushioning, ensuring babies' safety in an all-around way and facilitating the development of their feet.

Project Brief

This product aims to provide a scientific, soft, and aesthetic shoe solution. It utilizes bionic technology inspired by octopus, adding bionic octopus suction cups to the abrasion-resistant anti-slip rubber outsoles to enhance the coefficient of friction (0.24- 0.26 under wet conditions), ensuring stable and safe walking of babies. The upper ankle area is wrapped in bionic suction cups to enhance anti-sprain performance, preventing side falls or wrong walking postures. The midsole uses Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymer (EVA) foam technology, reducing the weight by 10%, enhancing the softness by 20%, and improving cushioning by 30%, ensuring extreme comfort for babies' feet. The pioneering "soft puff" high-elasticity foam insole enjoys excellent elasticity and cushioning in addition to mold and bacteria resistance, with a sterilization rate of 99%, bringing an all-day comfortable and healthy wearing experience.
This product takes a beige-green color scheme, coupled with cute and interesting dinosaur decoration accessories, improving babies' artistic literacy and aesthetic capacity.
This product also continues the brand's sustainable design concept. It utilizes bio-based materials, including corn fiber and coffee grounds, and recycled nylon material, reducing petroleum consumption and carbon emissions while retaining excellent breathability, resilience, water resistance, and softness.

Project Innovation/Need

Babies start to jump and run after learning to walk, requiring supportive and protective shoes. This product features bionic technology inspired by powerful suction cups of the octopus, incorporating bionic octopus suction cups into the abrasion-resistant anti-slip rubber outsoles for higher coefficient of friction (0.24-0.26 in wet conditions), guaranteeing babies are safe and stable during running and jumping. Besides, the upper ankle area is wrapped in bionic suction cup rubber to enhance anti-sprain performance, supporting the heel and preventing incorrect walking postures.

Design Challenge

Babies and infants are weak at accurately expressing their needs, so we generalized from our user research of the past ten years, including feedback and appraisals, sales data, etc.: babies learn to walk from 18 months to 3 years old, and they need shoes with excellent support, stability, cushioning, and abrasion resistance to help correct the gait and prevent foot problems when they attempt to run and jump. Therefore, this product is designed based on babies' physiological and movement characteristics. A widened sole with bionic octopus suction cups is applied to enhance the coefficient of friction (0.24-0.26 in wet conditions) so that babies can walk more steadily. The upper ankle area is wrapped in bionic octopus suction cups to enhance anti-sprain performance, supporting the heel and preventing incorrect walking postures. Moreover, a beige-green color scheme, coupled with cute and interesting dinosaur decoration accessories, improves babies' artistic literacy and aesthetic capacity. This product strives to bring safety, comfort, cognition, sense of ceremony, and art to babies to safeguard their healthy growth.

Sustainability

This product is eco-friendly. The upper utilizes ultra-thin fiber that is made from corn fiber, and the upper mesh fabric takes coffee bio-based materials. This product adopts natural materials rather than petrochemical fibers, enabling it to be naturally degraded after the end of the lifecycle without causing environmental pollution. It boasts outstanding breathability, resilience, water resistance, and softness. The Velcro applies recycled nylon, reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.
