Project Overview

The Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital has been committed to providing quality healthcare services for women and children. To meet the growing demand for high-end medical care, the hospital decided to establish a VVIP International Medical Center dedicated to high-end clients. Based on the most advanced medical technology and high-end service concept, this department will provide personalized and comprehensive health management and diagnosis and treatment services.
The design concept starts from the "ONE" shape, which contains the beautiful meaning of "first", "beating notes", and "the circle of life is endless". The first thing that catches your eye when you enter the treatment space is the green glass logo of "One Woman and Baby", which symbolizes beautiful jade and pure nature. Follow the walkway full of sunlight all the way to the reception desk, there are one-on-one nurses to provide VVIP guidance throughout the process, and the blood drawing table is used as a self-help project before diagnosis and treatment, especially considered to be set opposite the reception desk, which can easily communicate with nurses. The consultation rooms enclosed on both sides and the best lighting area in the middle are all left for customers to wait. Clients can take a break with their families in a separate sofa area or communicate with nurses.

Project Brief

1. One-stop service: The International Medical Center provides one-stop health management services, and professional teams will track and manage the whole process from initial diagnosis, examination, and treatment to rehabilitation. Customers can complete all medical procedures in one place, thus saving both time and labor.
2. High-end and intimate experience: To meet the needs of high-end customers, the International Medical Center is designed with a separate reception area and waiting area to ensure the privacy and security of each customer. At the same time, private medical consultants and dedicated care teams will provide intimate and personalized services to customers.
3. Medical treatment of international standards: The medical center will be managed and operated in strict accordance with international medical standards to ensure the provision of world-class medical services. The hospital will also regularly invite internationally renowned experts to give lectures and consultations to enhance the overall medical level.
4. Dedicated health management: Each VVIP customer will have an exclusive health management file, and the medical team will develop a personalized health management plan according to the customer's health status and requirements, and provide regular tracking and adjustment.

Project Innovation/Need

The multiple innovations of the Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital project demonstrate how unique the design team is in improving the quality of medical services and user experience. Here are some of the key innovations:
1. Flexible and multipurpose treatment room design: Rotation between multiple departments. The treatment room can meet the weekly rotation needs of at least seven different departments, which reflects the high degree of flexibility and adaptability of the space design. Efficient space utilization. Careful planning and design ensure that each department can use these spaces efficiently for specific periods of time without interfering with each other.
2. Humanized environmental design: Warm wood finish and white matte artificial stone. These materials are used to create a soft, glare-free environment that reduces patient stress and creates a safe and welcoming atmosphere.
3. Intimate and comfortable experience: Single room design. Single-room design can ensure the privacy and comfort of each patient while reducing the risk of cross-infection.
4. Men's facilities: Include toilets and sperm recovery rooms, and more private loop routes are arranged to protect patient privacy.
5. Priority is given to safe facilities for mothers and children: Safety design for baby care room. The safety of mothers and children is a primary consideration in the design to ensure the safety of facilities and equipment.

Design Challenge

The multi-functional use of the newly built treatment rooms is the main problem to be solved in the project. Initially, treatment rooms are required to meet the weekly rotation requirements of at least seven different departments, which means that each department has to be able to use the space efficiently for a specific period of time without affecting the operation of other departments. In addition, to ensure a first-class treatment experience, treatment rooms must be equipped with all the equipment needed by the medical staff and sufficient space that satisfies the medical practice and procedures.
This project requires a high degree of flexibility and adaptability in design as well as efficiency and coordination in actual operations. Based on careful planning and design, Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital hopes to provide world-class medical services and experiences to VVIP customers while meeting the needs of different departments.

The design of the Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital incorporates several sustainability concepts that focus not only on environmental sustainability but also on social and psychological sustainability.
