Project Overview

Hidden in the high-rise buildings in the busy area of Taipei City, "One Day Beauty" has become a quiet place for customers at the top of the pyramid to maintain their health and body.

In order to make this place different from the fancy or cold medical field, but present a luxurious, calm and relaxing atmosphere, the designer uses stucco paint as the main material, with the water corrugated metal plate in the porch, the curved glass layer on the modeling wall, and the Italian imported tile at the entrance, while adding more details and layers to the quiet and harmonious space; on the other hand, the entrance girder is also transformed into an arc, and a resting place is created around it, transforming the original oppressive girder into a spatial highlight filled with a leisurely atmosphere, so that visitors can relax before consulting.

Project Brief

In terms of the overall space design, the designer starts from the concept of Wind & Water Dialogue. For the privacy partition screen between the entrance and the counter, a large number of square boxes are staggered, suspended and inlaid to make the space more fluid; while the water ripples in the ceiling also echo the curved design of the space, forming a visual vocabulary similar to the fluctuation of water surface, making the space as light and natural as the flow of water or breeze, and shaping a "flowing architectural experience" that is both static and moving.

Project Innovation/Need

In the space where the space frame is limited and the light is insufficient, the designer solves the existing restrictions by carefully selecting the ceiling material and transforming the shape of beams and columns; through the interpenetration and mixing of multiple materials and the design vocabulary full of flow, it creates a rich spatial expression, making "One Day Beauty" a reserved and hierarchical texture field, and also shaping through a quiet atmosphere, so that customers can relax before consulting or diagnosis and treatment.

"One Day Beauty" mainly serves high consumer groups aged 40 to 60 who pay attention to health, of which male and female customers account for the same proportion, which is different from the urban medical beauty clinic focusing on female customers. In response to the user's preference, the designer creates a stable and delicate but not boring space atmosphere through careful arrangement of color, material, shape and lighting, and initiates images that different from feminine beauty field which is bright and cold, etc., with the design in this space to tell its unique positioning.

Design Challenge

To make the space with stucco paint as the main material but not dull, the designer deliberately started from the curved beam shape, extended the irregular and circular cuts of the porch ceiling, floor and modeling wall, and combined with a large number of square boxes rich in rhythmic arrangement, as well as interspersed plants, in a non-distracting way that subtly add fluidity and detail to the atmosphere of the space.

The designer creates a semi-circle resting place around the curved beam and column, cleverly transforming the pressurised beam and column into a seat that can be both successful and aesthetic, and also makes the space more open in the sense of body, so as to achieve a soothing effect. In addition, the design of consultation desk introduces clear window light with transparent glass, which not only solves the limitation of insufficient lighting in the original space, but also adds a curtain on the ceiling, so that customers who attach importance to privacy can pull it down when necessary, to maintain personal privacy, and perfect the visual atmosphere and functional requirements.

Sustainability

When working on the "One Day Beauty" space, the designer deliberately selected a variety of natural materials to create a richer visual level for the space under the premise of considering sustainability; on the other side, the glass compartment also introduces natural light to enhance the brightness of space in an environmentally friendly way, and makes the beauty and sustainability of both.
