Project Overview

The project is located in Longqi Bay Tourist Resort, Ledong Li Autonomous County, Hainan Province, with the core concept of "poetic dwelling". Inspired by the poetry of Hölderlin, the project aims to combat the fragmentation of life and the dissolution of personality brought about by modern technology through artistic and poetic design.

The project integrates architecture, landscape, and road systems to create a natural art scene interwoven with light, forest, water, and shadow, achieving a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, and an ideal life that balances sensibility and rationality.

Project Brief

The design fully utilises the superior sea view resources of the site and adopts a fan-shaped layout, allowing each unit to enjoy a wide sea view. The architectural complex unfolds towards the sea, with water features and road systems extending along a ceremonial axis to the ocean, creating a spatial experience of sea-land integration.

The partition wall adopts a concrete structure in the shape of a sail, combined with the details of an endless clean water surface and luminous stones, creating a poetic atmosphere rich in time sedimentation. The different light and shadow changes in the morning, dusk, and night together create an immersive living experience.

Project Innovation/Need

1. Innovation in spatial narrative: Taking "poetic dwelling" as the clue, integrating architecture, landscape, and road design to form an artistic scene interwoven with light, water, and shadow.

2. Visual infiltration design: The fan-shaped building layout maximises the sea view, and the axis-style road enhances the sense of ceremony, allowing the ocean and the site to permeate each other.

3. Material and Light and Shadow Innovation: The concrete sail wall combined with luminous stone presents a simple and heavy feeling during the day, while at night it forms a reflection of starlight, enhancing the poetic expression of time and space.

Design Challenge

1. Maximising Sea View Resources: How to ensure privacy while allowing each unit to enjoy high-quality sea views.

2. Balance between nature and artificiality: Avoid excessive design and ensure harmonious coexistence between buildings, water features, roads, and the natural environment.

3. Material and climate adaptation: Durability and maintenance issues of concrete and luminescent stone in high-humidity and high-salt coastal environments.
