Project Overview
Designing for climate resilience at scale.
Bushfires are not just natural disasters; they’re symptoms of systemic failure across infrastructure, policy, and environmental management. They destroy biodiversity, displace communities, and release vast amounts of carbon into the atmosphere.
IND Technology (INDT) was founded in the wake of Victoria’s 2009 Black Saturday Fires, driven by a mission to prevent such devastation. Ageing electrical infrastructure is a major risk, especially in Victoria, where much of the power pole network is nearing the end of its 30–50-year lifespan. With tens of thousands of poles needing replacement and not enough time or resources to do so reactively, INDT’s Early Fault Detection (EFD™) system offers a preventative, scalable solution—pinpointing electrical faults before they ignite fires.
From Australia to the USA, Asia, and Canada, INDT is protecting communities, safeguarding infrastructure, and reducing outages with world-leading technology that tackles one of today’s most urgent climate risks.
Storyfolk’s rebrand and digital overhaul elevated this breakthrough technology into a compelling global narrative, one centred on prevention, resilience, accuracy and hope.
The brand now positions INDT as a climate solution that’s scalable, measurable, and deeply aligned with SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure). It’s a modern case study in how strategic design can accelerate the adoption of world-first technologies and drive systemic environmental change.

Project Brief
Positioning a technical breakthrough as a global climate solution.
Despite its real-world impact, INDT’s brand lacked the impact and emotion to communicate its value to a broad audience. Storyfolk was briefed to shift the narrative from engineering innovation to global climate action, making the invisible visible. The brief was clear: craft a brand that resonates with policymakers, industry leaders, and the public alike.
We reframed EFD™ not just as an engineering feat, but as a transformative tool for climate resilience. The result is a brand identity that translates technical complexity into urgency, accessibility, and impact, driving conversations around disaster prevention, infrastructure adaptation, and climate-forward governance on a global scale.
Project Innovation/Need
From disaster response to prevention: A new model for climate adaptation.
INDT’s technology is a paradigm shift in disaster mitigation. It identifies faults in power infrastructure before they ignite fires or lead to other disruptions, moving the system from reactive to preventative. Now deployed across seven countries, this technology is responsible for stopping thousands of potential disasters, representing a new model for climate resilience.
Storyfolk’s role was to give this innovation the platform it deserved, transforming a highly technical system into a narrative of scalable impact. The rebrand and digital experience show that infrastructure can be part of the climate solution when paired with smart, anticipatory technology and systems thinking. It’s not just innovation; it’s climate intervention.
Design Challenge
Precision in Prevention.
At the heart of INDT’s EFD™ system is its unmatched accuracy in pinpointing electrical faults before they escalate into fires or failures. This precision became the foundation for the brand refresh. However, communicating such a technically complex and often invisible system to a broad, global audience was a major design challenge. Storyfolk needed to transform this engineering achievement into a brand experience that could cut through jargon and resonate with stakeholders from policy-makers to power utilities to communities alike.
"Pinpointing" emerged as both a literal and conceptual anchor for the brand, capturing the system’s function while creating a clear, emotionally resonant story about prevention and protection. This concept informed every layer of the design: from sharp, confident language to visual systems that focused on clarity, movement, and precision.
Through custom iconography, motion design, and simplified infographics, we made the invisible visible. The result was a human-centred design system grounded in technical credibility, showcasing INDT as a trusted, scalable solution for climate action and infrastructure resilience.
Future Impact
Catalysing policy, prevention, and planet-positive outcomes.
With its reimagined brand, INDT is now actively influencing the global conversation on fire prevention and climate adaptation. It has contributed to government bushfire strategies, forged international partnerships, and shaped infrastructure resilience policies in high-risk regions.
The rebrand doesn’t just reference the SDGs; it brings them to life through a lens of early intervention, precision, and systems transformation. The result is a scalable, measurable impact: a world-first technology helping to pinpoint faults before they escalate into devastating fires while reducing emissions, preserving biodiversity, and strengthening climate-resilient cities. More than a product or a brand, INDT now represents a global blueprint for how infrastructure can serve both people and the planet. This project shows how strategic design, grounded in purpose and accuracy, can accelerate innovation to deliver lasting, systemic environmental outcomes.
