Project Overview

As Longfor's new-generation heritage luxury residence and the world's first Fengcui masterpiece, the project is situated in the heart of Dianchi National Tourist Resort. This scarce high-end residential area in Kunming boasts an exclusive attribute of having no new residential land supply for twelve years. It enjoys the views of Dianchi Lake and Xishan Mountain, with a constant temperature of 16.7℃ intertwined with 90% negative ion coverage, forming an ecological treasure sought after by high-net-worth individuals.

Project Brief

The design inspiration is rooted in the natural texture of Yunnan's 6,663-meter vertical elevation difference. Breaking the single narrative logic of traditional flat landscapes, it reconstructs spatial dimensions with a "three-dimensional garden". From snow-capped peaks to the Red River Rift Valley, it initiates a dimensional revolution in landscape through vertically growing greenery, overlapping ecosystems, and three-dimensionally flowing visuals. Meanwhile, the space engages in a dialogue with Tadao Ando's Zen-inspired light and shadow, I.M. Pei's spatial philosophy, Zaha Hadid's fluid curves, and Louis Kahn's aesthetics of order, allowing the aesthetics of these masters to resonate here and forge a new generation of classic architecture and urban IP.

Project Innovation/Need

Compared with similar works in the market, its core breakthroughs are reflected in three dimensions. The innovation of three-dimensional space is particularly prominent: as Kunming's first project with an intertwined above-ground and underground three-dimensional homecoming system and a 6,000-square-meter three-dimensional art museum garden, it breaks the planar constraints of space.

Secondly, the creation of an immersive cultural sanctuary integrates natural wonders such as the "Diamond Heart" art sculpture, the "Valley of the Divine Realm" light and shadow canyon, and the "Floating Cloud Corridor" with humanistic scenes like tea retreats and flower islands, achieving an immersive experience where each step reveals a new view. Additionally, the innovative dual homecoming route system enhances the above-ground sense of ceremony with a 148-meter ultra-fluid gateway. The underground hotel-style roundabout drop-off area, combined with weather-protected corridors and a grid-point building layout, maximises the penetration of the landscape within the limited land.

Design Challenge

The challenges in landscape creation focus on the construction precision of complex three-dimensional landscapes and the survival and maintenance of rare plants. The former relies on advanced technologies such as millimetre-level precision control, parametric geometric aesthetics, full waterjet cutting of stone, three-dimensional splicing, and 3D modelling for wave-like processing, ensuring precise implementation of every detail.

The latter involves carefully selecting nearly 200 fine trees across 15 dimensions, and through sophisticated transplantation techniques and scientific maintenance, protects ten precious "tree kings" worth over 500,000 each, such as araucarias and century-old Chinese tallow trees. Rare plants, including olive trees and red-fruited holly, are all properly preserved.

Sustainability

Green and sustainable practices are deeply rooted in ecology, energy conservation, and community texture: native vegetation is carefully preserved; local tree species such as Yunnan hackberry and Yunnan machilus are selected, combined with a 75% greening rate and rainwater recycling system to mitigate the heat island effect. The construction of the "Vertical Garden System" enhances the regional green coverage rate with rich plant communities, subtly improves the microclimate, and allows ecological resilience and spatial vitality to coexist.




This award celebrates creativity and innovation in the use of practical, aesthetic, horticultural, and environmentally sustainability components, taking into account climate, site and orientation, site drainage and irrigation, human and vehicular access, furnishings and lighting.
