Project Brief
This year, the festival covers a 6-hectare area with 15 themed zones inspired by the concept of a learning campus, creating a vibrant and interactive space dedicated to coffee and chocolate. The event brings together over a hundred brands, including Nantou’s specialty coffee roasters, international award-winning chocolatiers, local delicacies, and popular souvenir vendors. A 1.7-hectrate sea of flowers, paired with adorable Bugcat Capoo lantern installations, turns the venue into an all-ages friendly space that embraces taste, aesthetics, and sustainability.
Four large-scale hands-on experiences are specially designed for thousands of participants: “Floral Coffee Feast,” which combines floral art with coffee aesthetics, “Hand Drip Coffee Experience,” which provides a deeper dive into pour-over techniques, the refreshing seasonal blend of “Summer Special Blend of Expresso Romano,” and the eco-friendly and creative DIY of “Handmade Coffee Grounds Candle.” These diverse interactive activities turn professional coffee knowledge into accessible fun experience, allowing participants to explore the depth and charm of coffee culture. The excitement peaks with evening concerts on May 30, 31, and June 7, featuring live performances by renowned singers and makes the festival go with a swing. For the grand finale, a dazzling drone firework show features the wildly popular character “Catbug Catbug Capoo,” transforming the night sky into a dreamy stage for a spectacular visual and auditory feast.
Project Innovation/Need
The 2025 Nantou Chocoffee Festival – Don’t Miss This Brew took place from late May through early June. Now entering its fifth year, the festival returns in full glory under a brand-new theme: “Don’t Miss This Brew, True Enough.” This year’s edition features a major expansion in scale, gathering over 100 coffee and chocolate brands – from skilled local craftsmans in Nantou to celebrated vendors from across Taiwan – to deliver an unparalleled feast of savors.
From beans designated by the Presidential State Banquets, SCA-certified high-scoring products in Asia, and national coffee roasting champion to various award-winning selections, the festival brings together the top-tier coffee and chocolate brands. Visitors are sure to be hooked by the taste.
Blessed with ideal natural conditions, Nantou nurtures premium-quality cocoa and coffee. Through the platform of Chocoffee Festival, the distinctive charm of Nantou’s coffee and chocolate are introduced to wider people, while also driving synergy between local industry and tourism. Over the years, the event has received an enthusiastic response from visitors across Taiwan, showcasing the boundless potential of Nantou’s regional flavors and brand power.
Design Challenge
In addition to the coffee and chocolate spotlight, the Nantou County Government launches two concurrent events: the “2025 Nantou Starry Sky Season Event” and the “Nantou 100k Cycling Tour.” These programs weave together the serene beauty of local townships with nighttime stargazing experience. Visitors are invited to cycle under the stars, embarking on a healing summer journey. Whether sipping coffee, stargazing, or enjoying dessert, visitors are immersed in Nantou’s rich landscape, cultural depth, and sustainable philosophy. Satisfying both your taste buds and your spirit. This is not just a festival – it’s a holistic lifestyle proposal, celebrating nature, community, and the art of downshifting.
Engaging interactive experiences make the event more exciting, such as hand-on classes, savor lab exhibition zone, creative interactive installations, and a dog-friendly play zone. From tasting to playing, from learning to photo-taking – visitors of all ages can immerse themselves in the charm of coffee and chocolate at this flavorful “campus.” This festival is more than just an exhibition – it’s a flavorful adventure that makes everyone fall in love with Nantou.
Sustainability
The 2025 Nantou Chocoffee Festival brings the concept of sustainability to life. All exhibition zones are aligned with eco-conscious principles, including eco-tableware rental stations to minimize single-use waste. The reusable tasting cup in collaboration with the beloved character “Bugcat Capoo” blends cuteness and taste with environmental responsibility. In addition, the festival provides shuttle buses that link the exhibition areas, flower fields, and the inclusive family-friendly park, creating a barrier-free and thoughtful route. This uniquely curated experience reflects a deeper care for both people and the planet.
The overall design places importance on environmental sustainability and family inclusivity, creating a multi-sensory experience that stretches from daytime strolls through flower fields, to learning about coffee, to enjoying fireworks and music under the stars. Join us in this summer celebration that blends art, flavor, and lifestyle – and discover the unique charm of Nantou’s coffee and aesthetics of everyday life.
