Project Overview

Taking ‘second skin’ as the design philosophy, EMXEE Tri-Fiber Stretch Postpartum Homewear aims to provide a better homewear solution for mothers during pregnancy and postpartum recovery. Its self-developed fabric ingeniously blends silk protein with natural flax fiber to achieve both skin-nourishing benefits and moisture-wicking properties, complemented by spandex fiber, improving elasticity to flexibly adapt to changes of the wearer’s body shape throughout pregnancy. In terms of appearance design, the original print—Whimsical Blossom—paired with a round-neck shirt silhouette presents a simple yet elegant style, striking a balance between aesthetic appeal and practicality. The product redefines the aesthetic and practical standards of maternity clothing.

Project Brief

During mid-to-late pregnancy and postpartum recovery, mothers spend significantly more time at home. Meanwhile, hormonal changes during this period may cause hassles like increased skin sensitivity and poor sleep quality. However, most of maternity homewear on the market only meets basic needs, frustrating consumers due to poor comfort, insufficient elasticity, and rough fabrics. To address that, the design team has innovatively developed the product featuring exceptional elasticity, an ultra-soft texture, and excellent breathable and skin-friendly properties, which can adapt to body shape changes throughout pregnancy, gently protect sensitive skin, and accommodate all seasons. Moreover, the fabric is infused with natural amino acids that nourish the skin, delivering a comfortable, pressure-free, and health-enhancing homewear solution.

Project Innovation/Need

The core innovation lies in the self-developed tri-fiber stretch fabric—spandex fiber for enhanced elasticity while bamboo-derived fiber and silk-flax fiber for skin-friendliness and functional support. Silk-flax fiber is an innovative composite material: silk protein, rich in multiple amino acids, delivers nourishing benefits and gives a smooth touch; natural flax pulp significantly improves moisture-wicking and breathable properties, always keeping wearers dry and comfortable. This not only offers a better wearing experience, but also addresses the limitations of natural fibers—such as flax-induced itchiness and high-maintenance silk care—achieving a harmonious unify of natural comfort and functional versatility.

Design Challenge

There existed two main challenges—preserving skin-friendly and breathable properties of natural fibers while offering sufficient elasticity to accommodate body shape changes during pregnancy and balancing silk protein’s skincare benefits with the fabric’s durability to ensure functionality even after repeated washing. To address that, EMXEE Tri-Fiber Stretch Postpartum Homewear integrates spandex fiber to enhance elasticity, along with scientifically blended silk-flax fiber where flax acts as a rigid skeleton for durability and silk creates a smooth, moisturizing layer against the skin. This synergy retains the bioactivity of silk protein and greatly improves overall comfort.

Sustainability

Rooted in sustainability, EMXEE Tri-Fiber Stretch Postpartum Homewear is crafted entirely from natural, biodegradable materials (cotton, bamboo-derived fiber, and patented silk-flax fiber), minimizing environmental burden at the source. The application of low-energy-consumption spinning processes further reduces carbon emissions during production; innovative silk-flax fiber improves overall durability for prolonged service life. With an elastic construction and an adjustable waistband, the product well adapts to all stages of pregnancy. Designed for year-round comfort, it eliminates the need for repeated purchases, maximizing resource efficiency and fostering a shift toward eco-conscious consumption.
