Project Overview

This residence explores the philosophy of “Heart Dwelling,” where urban vitality and serene living coexist in harmony. Positioned in the center of the city, the project transforms precious land into a poetic sanctuary shaped by Eastern aesthetics and contemporary comfort. Every window opens not only to scenery but to the rhythm of modern life, while every inch of space is crafted to carry emotion and allow the mind to relax.

Soft arcs, flowing light, and restrained luxury define the atmosphere. The living area unfolds like a fully opened folding fan, introducing nature indoors through a 270° lighting curve that brings in the sky, clouds, and changing seasons. Integrated spaces for living, dining, and cooking form a warm and cohesive environment tailored for modern families. Through refined materiality, gentle light, and elegant textures, the project reinterprets traditional aesthetics into a calm, luxurious lifestyle that turns everyday life into poetry.

Project Brief

The project reimagines contemporary high-end living by blending Eastern philosophical order with soft luxury. Inspired by the folding fan’s principle of “proper opening and closing,” the design establishes a spatial rhythm that brings clarity, balance, and emotional comfort. The central living axis—composed of the living room, multifunctional hall, dining area, and island kitchen—acts as the heart of the home, creating a fluid space for social interaction, family connection, and quiet personal moments.

Light becomes a key narrative device. Whether from the gauze-filtered daylight, the warm glow of recessed lighting, or the reflections on Bulgari marble, illumination shapes atmosphere and invites tranquility. Rich textures—velvet, wood, metal, curved surfaces, and soft fabrics—create an elegant yet relaxed environment. From the morning coffee corner to the serene reading alcove, the master suite, and the soft cloud-like children’s room, the design turns every daily ritual into a sensory retreat. This project offers not just a living space, but a lifestyle woven from poetry, calmness, and refined detail.

Project Innovation/Need

Innovation lies in the translation of classical Eastern philosophy into a modern residential experience. The concept of “soft order” replaces rigid spatial divisions, using curved geometry, floating light, and layered textures to craft a home that feels both organized and emotionally expressive. The 270° lighting curve that brings in expansive natural views becomes a structural and experiential breakthrough, allowing nature to gently occupy the interior.

The design integrates functional richness with atmospheric storytelling. Instead of traditional zoning, multi-scenario living emerges: a dining space that transforms into a social hub, a kitchen that blends seamlessly with daily interaction, a reading corner that merges work and relaxation, and a master suite that balances sophistication with intimacy. Material combinations—such as ink-woven Bulgari marble softened by warm light—demonstrate a novel approach to luxury that replaces opulence with emotional warmth.

By treating life rituals—such as morning coffee, reading, bathing, and resting—as core design elements, the project redefines what high-quality urban living can feel like. It brings a new emotional depth to the residential market, answering the need for calm sophistication in fast-paced city life.

Design Challenge

One of the main challenges was expressing refined luxury without falling into conventional extravagance. The project required translating complex textures, materials, and atmospheric nuances into a coherent and soothing environment. Achieving the interplay of softness and structure—especially through curves, layered materials, and large-scale lighting surfaces—demanded precise coordination between design, fabrication, and installation.

Another challenge lay in addressing diverse user needs across different ages while maintaining stylistic unity. The master suite required elegant calmness, the elderly room needed soothing warmth and simplicity, and the children’s room demanded softness without excessive sweetness. Balancing these differences while preserving the project’s overarching narrative required thoughtful material and color calibration.

The use of high-texture materials such as Bulgari marble, velvets, curved cabinetry, and glass elements also presented technical complexities, particularly in integrating hidden light sources and maintaining visual softness. Finally, ensuring that the spatial rhythm remained seamless—from communal areas to private corners—required careful spatial choreography, communication with craftsmen, and continuous refinement on-site.

Sustainability

The project approaches sustainability through subtle but meaningful strategies embedded in materials, light, and atmosphere. Instead of relying on heavy decoration, the design emphasizes natural textures—wood, stone, fabrics, and soft curves—reducing the need for synthetic or high-energy-embodied embellishments. By utilizing long-life materials such as durable stone surfaces and quality wood veneers, the space prioritizes longevity over frequent replacement.

Natural light is maximized through 270° curved glazing and panoramic windows, significantly reducing daytime lighting needs. Soft gauze curtains diffuse sunlight, lowering heat gain while enhancing comfort. The integration of multi-functional spaces also contributes to sustainable living by reducing redundant rooms and encouraging adaptable, efficient use of space.

The project’s philosophy of “slow living” promotes mental well-being as a dimension of sustainability. By creating restorative corners—such as the morning coffee nook, reading alcove, and serene bath area—the home supports healthier daily rhythms. Subtle touches such as indoor greenery, breathable fabrics, and natural color palettes reinforce a biophilic connection.

Rather than adopting technology-heavy sustainability measures, the project embraces a low-carbon lifestyle through material restraint, daylight optimization, and timeless design that minimizes waste over time.
