Project Brief

The proprietor requested a straightforward and unpretentious overall design. To achieve this, the team took a distinctive approach, considering simplicity as subjective. They utilized white as the primary colour and complemented it with light-coloured wood veneer and walnut embellishments. This created a clean and tranquil ambience. Additionally, the team addressed the owner's concern about the audio equipment's sound quality by integrating curved elements, sound insulation, and sound-absorbing materials. This optimization aimed to enhance audio performance while mitigating noise disturbances for both neighbouring residents and the homeowner. Consequently, the outcome is a comfortable and habitable domain for the proprietor and their community.

Project Need

Residing in this house offers an amazing experience. As you enter, you'll be greeted by a mesmerizing view of the riverbank and lush greenery just outside the windows. The strategic location on a high floor near the riverbank ensures a tranquil atmosphere. The open bar area features a unique touch with its translucent stone table, complementing the overall white-themed space while adding a cosy element distinct from the wooden accents. Moving along the corridor towards the private area, you'll find a study adorned with earth tones, creating a soothing and inviting ambience. The doors on either side of the room offer versatility, serving as your reading nook, a peaceful resting spot, or even as a guest room.

Design Challenge

The team utilized an open-plan design, harmoniously integrating the living room, dining room, and kitchen to create a spacious living space. Residents can enjoy the breathtaking view while indulging in melodious music, thanks to the owner's high-spec audio equipment. To optimize the audio-visual experience, a rounded design was introduced in the public area, accompanied by acoustic and sound-absorbing building materials strategically placed in the compartments and ceilings. This meticulous approach ensures the highest sound quality from the audio equipment.

Sustainability

This particular project stands out not only for its aesthetic appeal and practicality but also for its focus on prioritising environmental protection through the use of a variety of green building materials. The entire house is coated with Deli's bamboo charcoal-based, environmentally friendly latex paint, which effectively purifies the air, prevents mould and mildew, fights bacteria, and resists moisture and stains. The incorporation of fireproof, moisture-proof, insect-resistant, and sound-proof calcium silicate panels also greatly enhances the overall durability and safety of the house. Moreover, energy-saving LED lights have been installed for lighting, which consumes less energy and boast high power, contributing significantly to energy conservation and carbon reduction. The use of these green building materials serves to effectively achieve the four essential environmental protection principles of "Habitat Health", "Ecological Health", "Human Health", and "Earth Sustainability", thus allowing residents to live in a healthy, peaceful, and sustainable environment.
