Project Overview

Entering Wingate’s new workplace, clients and team members alike will feel the warmth and welcome of an organisation who believes people are the strength and success of their business. With a warm colour palette, rich timbers and comfortable seating throughout, this workplace creates the first impression of a contemporary, people-centric organisation. The space calls to the traditional values of a private investment house, with a contemporary twist.

Project Brief

The client asked Axiom to create a new space focused on hospitality for their team and clients, that paid respect to their traditions while signalled towards their innovation and future-focus.

Their new workplace had to support their agile ways of working, providing space for a variety of work styles and functions, while bringing the organisation together within a cohesive workplace culture, all working towards the same organisational values and goals.

Project Innovation/Need

The solution we provided supports and elevates humanistic goals. Our innovative process begins with understanding the needs of each user which allows us to create a more refined environment and people-centric experience. Making design decisions based on employee consultation and a thorough workplace strategy allows us to solve complex problems with simple solutions.

The client practices innovative, socially responsible investment philosophies and their new built environment showcases this through the use of socially and environmentally responsible design and construction practices. The design is underpinned by the opportunity to enhance environmental and social impact through considerate selections, the right partnerships and responsible construction. This is how the true story of the organisation is told.

Design Challenge

Embracing the often-challenging centre core, the new workplace builds greater connection through purposeful circulations and spaces that draw users through zones to increase connectivity. Fluid, organic planning softens the edges of the square building, increasing the flow through different spaces. Transparency enhances the large windows around the perimeter, ensuring everyone can enjoy the natural light.

The design also required a balanced experience for both employees and clients. To achieve this, both the client-facing and back-of-house areas celebrate the same magnificent views, and us the same warm colour palette, rich timbers and comfortable furniture to ensure clients and employees feel welcomed in the space. Balancing the client-facing and back-of-house spaces is key to a well balanced culture that values both clients and employees.

Sustainability

Axiom underpins all projects with a focus on sustainability and social responsibility. Where possible, we re-used and re-purposed existing furniture and fit-out elements in a way that seamlessly flows into the design. We selected products sourced from manufacturers who support circular economies, carbon neutral initiatives and recycled materials. The suppliers selected for this project have implemented reconciliation plans and initiatives to make a tangible difference in the lives of young individuals, through training and development.
