Project Overview
The leading wine business, Pernod Ricard Winemakers, engaged Unispace Australia to design and build their new Melbourne office catering to employee needs, client engagement and brand showcase requirements.
The design of the space revolves around Pernod Ricards' extensive product range, their transient staff needs and creating a home base for the Melbourne team.
A clean colour palette of contrasting tones is placed against the industrial building design of raw timber and black steel to create a contemporary and welcoming space for their staff and visitors.
The Green space balcony running the length of the office space reflects the colour tones internally to create a harmonious connection between the external and internal environment.

Project Brief
The Pernod Ricard Winemakers team travel often and wanted a comfortable office base to return to that embodies their identity and accomplished portfolio. The design incorporates the Pernod Ricard Winemakers brands and an extensive product range.
To showcase Pernod Ricard's extensive international portfolio, a dedicated colour-blocked wall displaying large format brand decals, recessed glass shelves and exhibit bottles backlit are included within the space to allow visitors and staff to connect with the brand.
The overall soft colour palette compliments the industrial base of polished concrete floors and open ceilings, creating a comfortable and relaxed environment. A clean colour-blocked palette of green, peach and grey is consistent across all internal spaces, allowing for a homogenous journey for users and visitors and providing a subtle backdrop to showcase their top products and brands.
An inviting breakout and bar area effortlessly opens onto the external terrace to accommodate tastings, social gatherings, and exclusive events.
Project Innovation/Need
The space Pernod Richard moved into was minimal; working with the client, we ensured all spaces were multifunctional and fully utilised. Pernod Ricard's meeting rooms are dual use, for client meetings and product display space. The entry area houses a product showcase that can change over time. The workspace graphic demonstrates some of the many products Pernod represents. The breakout has many functions, such as a bar for product testing, a space for holding client events, and a collaboration point for staff meetings.
Because of the tight space, the design and construction team worked in unison to ensure seamless delivery and installation, limiting the number of people on-site to ensure all trades had the space and time to perform their tasks to their best.
The workplace is wrapped on one side by a large terrace. The design uses this space as an extension of the internal space to help create a larger and more open feel within the workspace.
The playful colours selected help create a feeling of youth and give vibrance to the working environment within the industrial building.
Design Challenge
Pernod Ricard's Melbourne office was the first dedicated space for the Melbourne team coming from a work-share location in the CBD. The team was growing and needed a space to call their own, a space to connect with colleagues, a space to highlight and connect with Pernod Ricard's many brands.
The move to Cremorne allowed them to create a unique space to suit their team's needs. The team travel alot so creating a home base was especially important to them.
The space selected was very tight, Unispace's design team had to work hard to fit all their requirements into the space while still making it work with flow and collaboration in mind.
The breakout and bar space were designed for multi-purpose use, from meet and greet to product showcase, testing and celebrations. Unispace used our expertise to create a design fit for its several functions and future-proofed for long-term growth.
In addition to its brand-centric spaces, the workplace was customised to support the team's needs. We worked closely with Pernod to integrate design features that inspire the team, to collaborate and connect with the brand.
Sustainability
Sustainability and longevity were some of the project's main drivers for Pernod Ricard and Unispace. Materials and suppliers were selected to support local Melbourne makers and artists. These include furniture, fittings, and local custom joinery.
The workplace is designed for future growth and flexibility, allowing Pernod Ricard to grow as a business in Melbourne over time, thus limiting the impact on further resources to be updated as the business evolves.
High-quality finishes and materials were selected to stand the test of time, mitigating the need to replace them every few years. As a result, the look and feel is timeless refined & clean palette in which Pernod can evolve over time.
