Project Brief

The 2023 Christmasland in New Taipei City is an exciting event that promises to be a major attraction for locals and tourists alike. The carnival features four themed light districts that are designed to transport visitors into a magical world of Christmas wonder. The Sweet Xmas Party at New Taipei City's Square is a delightful district that is sure to delight children and adults alike. Sweets Town at New Taipei Railway Station Square is a charming area that is perfect for families looking for a fun-filled experience. LAN LAN CAT Sweet Xmas Party at New Banqiao Central Park offers a unique and fascinating experience that combines interesting local landscapes and local specialties. Finally, Gingerbread World at Fuchong Square is a must-visit for anyone who loves the festive spirit of Christmas.

The Christmas Carnival offers so much for visitors to enjoy. It's a colorful feast for the public that is sure to delight and entertain. The light corridors and artistic light environment have become an annual hit, and this year they are even more vibrant and colorful than before. There are seven different light corridors to explore, including the Galaxy Light Corridor, Ryukyu Star Light Corridor, Star Light Corridor, Golden Waltz Light Corridor, Wisteria Wizard Light Corridor, Wish Light Corridor, and Magnificent Light Corridor. Each one is unique and offers a different experience, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in a sparkling and romantic Christmas atmosphere.

Project Innovation/Need

In addition to the light corridors, there are also four Prayer Boulevards that allow people to stroll around in a festive and enchanting environment. The Christmas City mascot and several giant artistic landscapes are also on display, adding to the overall charm and excitement of the event. With so much to see and do, the 2023 Christmasland in New Taipei City is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves the magic of Christmas.
The New Taipei City Square is transformed into a magical wonderland during the event, with a stunning Christmas tree as the centerpiece. The tree is unlike any other, with a canopy-style lighting design that makes it truly unique. The main body of the tree is designed to resemble a delicious matcha cake, complete with a double-layered tulle canopy-style lighting design that looks like frosting sprinkled on the cake. The design is not only visually stunning but also symbolizes the joyous feeling of "sweet happiness", making it the perfect addition to the festive atmosphere.

Design Challenge

The canopy-style lighting design also illuminates the night sky with a beautiful array of colors, creating a dreamy and enchanting atmosphere for all to enjoy. The tree is a feast for the eyes, with its colorful and eye-catching points of light that add a magical touch to the Christmas celebrations. People cannot help but be mesmerized by the dreamy light and shadow as they walk around the square, immersing themselves in the enchanting Christmas atmosphere.

Moreover, the light sculpture projection show is a sight to behold. Unlike in previous years, the show uses an innovative "3D Projection Technology" along with high-color laser stripe lights, LED wall washer lights, Santa Bear frame-by-frame light strips, and the canopy Christmas tree. This creates a larger-than-life immersive experience that leaves everyone spellbound. The animation show is full of storytelling and interactivity, with the largest outdoor immersive experience in years.

Sustainability

The primary objective of the event is to boost the economic benefits of tourism, while simultaneously highlighting the significance of environmental sustainability. From the outset of the event, the New Taipei City Government has been deeply committed to energy conservation and resource preservation. The government's first step is to ensure that all lights in the area are decorated with energy-saving LED lights to reduce power consumption. In addition, when designing the lanterns, the government requires the manufacturer to submit a comprehensive follow-up plan that addresses how to reuse resources. This includes specifying where the lanterns will be relocated, outlining relevant expenses, and providing a plan for dismantling the lanterns and transporting them to the renewal unit or a designated location after other related units have adopted them.

Furthermore, the New Taipei City Government is also keen on recycling and preserving the remaining light fixtures. The aim is to ensure that they can be continuously recycled and reused, thereby achieving energy-saving and sustainable environmental benefits. By doing so, the city is ensuring that the event has a positive impact on the environment and is contributing to the long-term sustainability of the region.
