Project Brief

Doulas are vital and on the front lines fighting against Black maternal mortality. Doulas are non-medical companions who support and guide women through the physical and emotional aspects of childbirth. They advocate for you, They coach you and help remind you of why what you’re doing is so important. The Kindred app recreates that experience virtually through an accessible, virtual portal.

Content and Education
One of the things I heard from research was that reliable information about pregnancy support and advocacy can be hard to find, especially if supporters don’t feel confident in their abilities to provide help to the pregnant woman in their life. Kindred provides tons of education content on a variety of subjects of each trimester of pregnancy.

Live Support and Feedback
Users can schedule coaching calls with their doulas. Calls are recorded so they will always have access to the information in case they want to go back of have follow up questions.

Support Made Simple
During the fourth trimester, users can also invite members of the mothers extended support network to organize social support groups for the new mom centered around check-ins, meal trains and childcare.
