Project Overview

Located at a dental clinic, this project is a case of commercial space design and planning. The designer has made great use of light-colored marble tiles and titanium elements to deliver an elegant and low-key luxury texture. The design team has introduced circular lines and soft colors into the space to create a medical space that is relaxing and enjoyable. With the design team’s thorough evaluation and thoughtful planning, the patient’s experience at a dental clinic has become less intimidating and relieving. Overall, the clinic place has been presented and planned as professional, clean, and trustable.

Project Brief

Upon entering the dental clinic, a painting of a unicorn and the sun is cleverly displayed there, which serves as an item of comfort and warmth to put patients at ease. Indoors, the calm and restrained marble, warm wood, and light color imagery are all resourcefully planned to bring a sense of stability and peace into the space. Furthermore, the distinctive use of pink latticework around the counter demonstrates that needed soft and warm human touch in such medical premises. On the other hand, the waiting area is embellished with several furniture pieces with circular elements such as gray velvet sofas, marble coffee tables, and lighting with circular lines, which are some brilliant arrangements to relieve patients' anxiety and nerves. Some decorative lamps are with yellow light temperature, which has made the supposed-to-be cold dental clinic tender and heartwarming. The children's area to the side is decorated with warm woody browns and a few bright colors to liven up the atmosphere.

Project Innovation/Need

The sizeable iridescent glass partition separates the common area from the clinic space, which is beautiful and makes the room look spacious and transparent.
Moreover, it ensures the patient’s safety and privacy. The gray marble cabinet and iridescent glass screen are the main visuals when pushing in the door, and the titanium lines outline a sense of simplicity and fluidity. The public clinic is installed with navy blue chairs, while the independent clinic comes with red chairs, defining respective areas through the distinction in color tone.

Design Challenge

The design team arranged the layout properly and planned a smooth flow of movement. The use of iridescent glass as a partition makes use of the light-permeable and opaque material to broaden the visual space while maintaining security and privacy. Besides, soft and light colors and curved elements are used to soften the space’s vibe. In addition, most patients usually feel nervous and anxious when going to a dentist, so the arrangement mentioned above has helped them get calm. The space is like warm sunshine in winter, which makes people feel comfortable and at ease.

Sustainability

The project has received the Gold Level Green Building Certification from the Taiwan Green Design Council. Not only does the layout conform to the ventilation path regulations for green buildings, but the use of healthy and environmentally friendly materials, energy-efficient appliances & equipment, and heat pumps realize the concepts of energy saving and carbon reduction. Also, it practices wastewater recycling and indoor temperature regulation. The project embodies health care, environmental protection, and energy saving.
