Project Brief

The façade of the building is adorned with vertical lines and green strips accentuating its bay window in a unique way. This design creates an illusion of a floating island, which blends in perfectly with the surrounding greenery. Also, the warm wood planned for the cascading horizontal eaves not only adds a touch of freshness and elegance to the building but also exudes a sense of welcoming warmth. Further, the continuous deep rain shade is a significant addition, providing excellent shading and rain protection for each residence, promoting a more comfortable living experience.

Project Innovation/Need

Additionally, the green belt design in the bay window brings in natural light and greenery, creating a pleasant environment for residents to enjoy while softening the oppressive feelings from the exterior walls of the building. This design also demonstrates the distinct seasonal scenery changes, adding a touch of uniqueness to the building's aesthetic appeal. As soon as entering the interior, one will notice a unique pavement design that captures children’s imagination with its playful hopscotch layout. This colorful feature links the alley and front garden of the building, making the experience of returning home joyful and exciting. Not only does it add to the aesthetic appeal of the surroundings, but it also provides an intriguing street game for the locals to enjoy.

Design Challenge

The communal space in this property boasts a distinctive interior design that sets it apart from other properties. Rather than being excessively adorned, the design team cleverly utilizes ample white space to draw attention to the intricate materials used in the decor. This creates an inviting and breathtaking living atmosphere reminiscent of a high-end art museum. The exceptional design transcends into the outdoor landscape garden, where the flooring, geometry, and color scheme harmoniously meld together to create a diverse and vivacious living environment. The interior of the space stands out with a unique feature: a water ripple ceiling made of stainless steel located above the art showcase. Mirrored artworks and the interplay of distance, lighting, and human shadows create an inseparable "light and shadow change" effect and a subtle "drip" relationship, which enhances the cohesive light and adds a touch of elegance to the space. Visitors can interact with the artworks and community owners can display their art in the seating areas around the art showcase, creating a circular economy and an interactive experience. Overall, the space is inviting and inspiring, perfect for spending time and appreciating beautiful art pieces.

Sustainability

The project is a marvelous display of "traditional alleys with greenery." It seeks to transport the residents back to the past and evoke a sense of nostalgia while providing them with a modern, healthy, and sustainable living environment. The design of the building is in accordance with environmental protection and energy conservation standards, beginning from its orientation and ending with the rain shelter design, rainwater recycling system, and water retention of the green roof. Moreover, the green window sill design is an excellent touch of natural elements to the residence, allowing the residents to experience the changing seasons and the beauty of mother nature. The overall design of the building encompasses multiple strategies to reduce energy consumption, as well as carbon emissions, and conserve water resources, making it a prime example of a building that positively responds to climate change and sustainable development. It is a remarkable illustration of secure, healthy, and sustainable urban construction for the future.
