Project Overview
Relics are containers made from recycled porcelain that help fruit and vegetables to last longer. A tray inside the container can decrease the temperature through a natural cooling effect called evaporative cooling. This creates optimal conditions for storing almost all types of fruit and vegetables. The container consists of 100% porcelain waste that was first ground and then sintered together. With this product, waste is reduced and a resource-saving lifestyle is supported.

Sustainability
In developing the recycled porcelain material, we use industrial waste. The fragments of porcelain, referred to as breakage, occur in large quantities in the production of porcelain, they are our basic material. But we also want to pay attention to an ecological manufacturing process in the development of our new material and create a pure material so that it does not have to be disposed of at great expense. We think through the entire life cycle of our objects: from material procurement to disposal after use. Thus, our recycled porcelain consists of 100% porcelain shards without the addition of foreign additives and binders. The manufacturing process is particularly ecological, so that production waste is also reused. We take the natural resources that already exist and turn them into something new. This is how the idea came about to use the properties of this material, which can absorb moisture, and thus cool through the natural effect of evaporative cooling.
