Project Overview
SAVHE HOTEL is a hotel brand that features the design concept of breath. Nestled in the bustling city, inspired by the philosophy of secluded Oriental living, it has conveyed a unique and refined urban humanistic atmosphere unique to SAVHE.
SAVHE, in the dialect language of the Lisu people in Yunan, means "breath". Embracing the connotation of SAVHE’s brand name, TOMO Design drew inspiration from nature to create thoughtfully organized spaces that breathe with nature, engage with life, and cultivate self-reflection—finding a habitat for inner strength. The layout design embraces nothingness to encompass richness, integrating with the landscape through poetic touches. The thoughtfully organized spaces created a distinctive atmosphere of a secluded retreat, full of freedom and relaxation. The essence of breath is to generate energy and vitality, blending Eastern artistic conceptions with modern art and infusing life into space.

Project Brief
TOMO and SAVHE have crafted a secluded aesthetic habitat in the name of "breath" in the bustling urban jungle. Breath represents the "inner," while vitality embodies the "outer." Flowing water and light infuse a breathing ambiance, transforming into spiritual expressions beyond the physical dimension.
At the hotel entrance, a modernized screen wall exudes light and shadow in the morning light. In the lobby, natural light interacts harmoniously with the screen wall, where swaying tree shadows create a dynamic play of light and shadow, evoking a sense of spirituality and vitality. This design reflects the traditional reclusive culture’s reverence for nature, while the classical pavilion in the lounge area offers a serene resting spot for guests. In the restaurant, dark wood and metal elements intertwine, blending the richness of Eastern culture with modern aesthetics. Spaces like the perfume display area, book bar, meditation room, and tea bar, seamlessly merge Eastern artistic sensibilities with contemporary design. The two-entry layout of the STUDIO and PRO guest room types ensures both privacy and flexibility, catering to the diverse needs of guests.
The team overcame site constraints with innovative design, infusing the space with vitality and a breathing sense to craft a captivating urban resort hotel that blends Eastern charm with contemporary art.
Project Need
The project seamlessly fuses Eastern aesthetics with contemporary design, using "breath" as its central theme and skillfully integrating light, shadow, and water elements. Through the interplay of light and flowing water, it creates an atmosphere imbued with a sense of breath and tranquility. One highlight is the art installation "Listen to the Rain in the Lake," inspired by a teacup. This installation blends sound and light art, evoking the form of ancient architectural rainwater pipes. It simulates a rain curtain, with natural light filtering through a ceiling as if accompanied by flowing water, allowing guests to experience the rhythm of nature in peaceful moments. The main light fixture above the reception desk combines traditional structure with modern expression, adding a sense of leisurely charm to the space. Meanwhile, the service desk integrates digital art with traditional screens, reminiscent of an unfurled scroll painting.
SAVHE sets itself apart in the hospitality market by bringing the concept of "breath" to life, creating an Eastern lifestyle brand that bridges heritage artifacts with contemporary art. Through tranquil spatial perception, it infuses the environment with vitality and energy, offering residents a unique, life-enhancing experience.
Design Challenge
For material selection, it’s essential to capture the charm of the East while meeting modern quality standards. For example, straw-textured paint evokes a sense of natural simplicity while ensuring durability. From a market perspective, the design aligns with modern desires for tranquility, elegance, and comfort, while offering guests a distinctive cultural experience. In terms of timing, the space provides an immediate sense of relaxation, allowing guests to unwind both mentally and physically amidst the fast pace of urban life. Effective communication is also key, requiring seamless coordination among professional teams to ensure Eastern cultural elements are precisely integrated with modern design concepts. For instance, a reinterpreted screen wall maintains its traditional function while meeting contemporary aesthetic expectations. Finally, the overall positioning and brand concept reflect a deep, collaborative process—from shaping the guest experience to refining spatial details—ensuring every element aligns with the desired narrative and vision.
Sustainability
The project reflects a strong commitment to sustainability through thoughtful material selection and design. For example, Jurassic fossil stone is shaped with precision techniques that minimize energy consumption and waste emissions during processing, aligning with environmental protection principles. The warm grey straw-textured paint incorporates natural plant extracts, reducing reliance on harmful chemicals. In terms of design, the hotel maximizes natural lighting and ventilation to lower energy use. It also promotes a low-carbon lifestyle by introducing energy-saving reminders in guest rooms. Economically, the creation of a distinctive cultural experience attracts more visitors, driving sustainable growth while contributing to the local economy.
