Project Overview

Given the rapid advancement of technology, this project seeks to develop a residential space that seamlessly integrates sophisticated technology with a focus on human-centered design. Our aim is to address the needs of the residents while presenting innovative propositions for the future of residential design. The project commences with an evocative "moon" concept, creating a retreat from urban complexities and subsequently introduces a sophisticated smart home system to deliver a comprehensive and convenient living experience for the residents.

Project Brief

To address both present-day living requirements and future expectations, this project is formulated with the central theme of an "ecological residence." The team places a strong emphasis on a "human-centered" approach, effectively harnessing environmental conditions and cutting-edge science and technology. This ensures the creation of a living space that promotes the physical and mental well-being of occupants, while concurrently mitigating the depletion of natural resources and energy. Consequently, a state of balanced aesthetics, sustainability, and functionality is achieved.

Project Innovation/Need

The project is founded upon the thematic inspiration of the "moon". Employing circular elements, a starry sky ceiling design, gray art paint, and translucent stone, the aim is to engender a sensation of entering the tranquil realm of the moon upon returning home, providing a respite from the complexities of daily life. This environment is designed to facilitate the shedding of burdensome thoughts and weariness. Furthermore, the project emphasizes the harmonious fusion of aesthetics and practicality, as evidenced by the deliberate use of curved edges to obscure the air conditioning unit.

Design Challenge

The design team implemented an open layout for the public space, seamlessly integrating the living room and dining room. This layout promotes fluidity and interaction within the space, allowing residents to move freely between the two areas and strengthening the emotional bonds within the family.

To evoke the image of the moon, the space features a base color of gray and incorporates several rounded and convex surfaces of varying sizes on the ceiling. Additionally, the use of ceiling lights, indirect lighting, a starry sky ceiling, and translucent stone panels creates a captivating experience, simulating a journey through the universe for the residents.

The private area maintains the color scheme, material application, and curved elements of the public space, ensuring a harmonious and unobtrusive transition between the areas. The design also prioritizes creating a comfortable and cozy atmosphere, ideal for relaxation.

Sustainability

To establish a sustainable and efficient smart home, this project introduces a comprehensive smart home system. In addition, it incorporates energy-efficient LED lighting, non-toxic eco-friendly art paints, and European-certified super-resistant wood flooring. These measures not only enhance the convenience of living for residents but also actively contribute to energy conservation and carbon reduction. The ultimate objective is to realise the vision of "coexistence with the environment" and to propose practical design strategies for future housing models.
