Project Overview

Robin's Earphones represents a collaborative effort between Moondrop and the renowned game Honkai: Star Rail, resulting in a co-branded Bluetooth earphone. This product draws inspiration from the color palette and fashion elements associated with “Robin”, a well-known female artist within the game, delivering an exceptional sound quality. Notably, it incorporates high-precision 3D printed components for the first time in a mass-produced earphone, offering a wearing experience that rivals that of customized earphones.

It is important to highlight that the earphone, in conjunction with the character “Robin”, has initiated a public service program titled Hope for Feathers and Wings". This program aims to assist individuals with hearing impairments through the provision of hearing aids and other resources, thereby endowing the earphone with significant social welfare implications beyond its primary function as an audio device.

Project Brief

The collaboration between Robin's Earphones and Honkai: Star Rail is deep-going, tailored themes across the headset, charging case, and storage bag, all customized in theme. For example, The "Robin" color palette, along with its intricate design features, is complemented by a customized headphone tone that reflects the original sound of "Robin". This combination offers gaming fans a uniquely immersive experience, setting it apart from standard headsets through its distinctive design and user experience. Robin's Earphones also features an exceptional battery life, enduring more than 9 hours on a single charge, and offering a total of over 30 hours with the charging case, catering to the daily and commuting needs of most users.

Project Innovation/Need

Robin's Earphones are designed with a sophisticated coaxial dual-unit acoustic system, featuring a 10mm TiN ceramic dome diaphragm dynamic driver paired with a 6mm annular flat plate sound generator. The dynamic driver effectively handles low and medium frequencies, while the flat plate unit excels in reproducing high frequencies. This configuration enables the earphones to deliver an ultra-wideband and high-resolution audio experience, characterized by robust and rich tonal qualities along with intricate audio layers. Additionally, Robin's Earphones are compatible with LDAC and LC3 codec transmission protocols.

Robin's Earphones incorporate Bluetooth 5.4 technology, facilitating wireless connectivity and application calling. They are equipped with a large built-in antenna that guarantees stable audio transmission over long distances, even in challenging environments, thereby minimizing signal interruptions and delays for an unobstructed listening experience.

The Hybrid ANC technology utilizes four high-sensitivity microphones, enabling remarkable deep noise cancellation across an extensive frequency spectrum. Users can customize the noise reduction levels according to their preferences, minimizing background noise interference in various environments, thus facilitating an uninterrupted and tranquil music experience anytime and anywhere.

Design Challenge

Robin's Earphones are innovatively 3D printed in critical areas using medical-grade resin materials, marking the first instance of 3D printing technology being employed in the mass production of Bluetooth earphones. This technique guarantees the quality and safety of the earphones, supports a more precise ergonomic design, and enhances sound accuracy and noise isolation.

The 10mm dynamic driver comprises a high-performance ceramic dome diaphragm, CCAW, and noise-canceling capabilities, complemented by N52 magnets, while the 6mm flat unit is dedicated to reproducing high-frequency details. The integration of premium materials and meticulous craftsmanship ensures the headphones deliver exceptional sound performance.

The components produced through 3D printing are coated with a starburst lacquer, which provides an exceptional texture to the surface. The acrylic tiles and leather storage bag, inspired by the "Robin" theme, effectively capture the essence and elegance of the female vocalist "Robin" featured in the game. The intricate design of the tiles, along with the textured storage bag, not only enhances the visual appeal of the product but also elevates it to the status of a collector's item.

Sustainability

The extended battery life minimizes the frequency of energy consumption. Additionally, the high-quality construction and durability contribute to a longer service life, thereby reducing the generation of electronic waste resulting from product failure or obsolescence.
