Project Overview
The site is a new apartment. The name "To Family:" is because the family has welcomed a lovely new life. The baby becomes the focus of the family's life. In a warm atmosphere, the designer used modern aesthetic thinking to appropriately plan the space. To solve the TV wall's lack of length, the designer installed hidden doors to extend the wall. At the same time, considering the residents' storage in the private area, the wall shared with the TV wall is designed with offsets. The concave and convex spaces complement the storage function. The curves eliminate sharp angles to avoid collision injuries.
The aesthetically intertwined living room does not adopt the traditional sofa against the wall configuration. An open sofa increases openness and flow. The whole space is kept in daylight. The details are supplemented by rounded elements and titanium-plated edges. The family leads a beautiful life in a ribbon-like space.

Project Brief
The story of a family can be continued because of the comfortable space. A child's health grows because of abundant care. Inspired by the owner's preference for Japanese wood, the project aims to create a cozy living space that is both modern and natural. Earth tones and wood are complemented by maximized daylight to satisfy the family's needs for functionality and aesthetics.
Project Innovation/Need
The designers changed the dull TV wall and created a ribbon-like concave-convex storage space. This is a very bold plan for a small space. If it were not careful, it would be easy for the space to become stuffy. The ultimate goal of space planning is to serve the occupants. A small storage space can be used for both social and private areas. Whether it is on the front or the back, it allows the occupants to have ample storage space.
The small storage space on the TV wall can easily create breaks in the large wall surface. A large number of breaks will make the space look awkward. The designer used rounded corners to make the “break” in the wall surface into a “connection” between surfaces. The half-height table and chairs allow for unobstructed light and ventilation on the upper part, providing a cozy home for the family.
Design Challenge
The main difficulties included the uncertainty of the owner's needs, which is a common problem for people when it comes to professional design. It took time for the designers to communicate and clarify, especially in terms of aesthetics and functionality. In addition, the site was only 72.7 square meters, and it was a challenge to add storage to the limited space, especially the integration of the TV wall and storage cabinets. Finally, the installation of an ERV directly affected the ceiling height and the feeling of compression while ensuring the quality of indoor air, which also posed a higher demand on the designers.
Sustainability
The design team paid attention to sustainability in order to protect the health and safety of the family. Firstly, eco-friendly paints and green building materials ensure that the indoor air quality is not affected by harmful substances, especially for families with newborns. Natural light reduces reliance on artificial lighting, saving energy and providing a comfortable living experience.
To further enhance the quality of life, the team installed an ERV to ensure fresh air. The designers paid special attention to removing sharp corners to avoid injuries to children during activities. In summary, this project meets the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 3 - Health and well-being: Reduce harmful substances to safeguard the health of the occupants; SDG 7 - Affordability and clean energy: Make full use of natural lighting to reduce energy consumption; and SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities: Install facilities such as an ERV to create a more livable space.
