Project Brief
Herbert Smith Freehills wanted to invest in a new workplace for their business support services to thrive, a place where they could develop an independent culture focusing on people first.
We were briefed to deliver a flexible, innovative and collaborative workplace for their team, as they made a move from the Sydney CBD into a new business hub in Macquarie Park. This transition encourages collaborative working while still following Herbert Smith Freehills' global design guidelines.
Project Innovation/Need
Herbert Smith Freehills' new workplace adopts an agile model; a new concept for them, and a relatively new concept in the legal industry. Their global design standards were adapted to fit with this new way of working to maximise variety in space
Design Challenge
Our team responded to a tight schedule to deliver the project on time and within budget with the Herbert Smith Freehills team commenting that Unispace “surpassed expectations.”
Sustainability
To fit out their new space, Herbert Smith Freehills' business services team reused 80% of their furniture from their CBD offices, enabling them to save on costs. Their more recently constructed rooftop pavillion features a mix of succulents and other plants that require limited water. The tables in their pavillion are all decorated and crafted with recycled glass and ceramic, adding pops of colour to the space.
