Project Overview

The project is located in Optics Valley Financial Center, with its architectural form drawing inspiration from the ethnic element of "Dragon-Back Terraces," embodying the fusion of culture and commerce. Through the installation of special artistic spatial elements, the design language of arcs is used to integrate the brand and space, addressing the relationship between the architecture and the restaurant's facade.

The lightweight sail-like eaves of the facade contrast sharply with the architectural arc eaves, while also evoking a connection with a "boat." The outdoor seating area combines landscape plants with moonlight and landscape lighting, creating an ecological natural landscape through borrowed scenery, harmonizing to create a symphony, providing an ultimate visual experience. Wuhan is renowned as the "River City," shaped by the power of water. As a symbol of dock culture, boats represent communication, integration, collision, and development. Starting from its own architectural form, this project traces its origins and draws inspiration from the humanistic spirit of books like "White Boat" and "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea." Integrating dining and art, it pays tribute to urban development and entrepreneurial spirit, creating a mobile restaurant for chance encounters, where time travels and connects the stories of travelers and cuisine.

Project Brief

The sequence-like beige cave stone formations paired with a curved wooden veneer reception desk create an ambiance of artistic ceremony in the restaurant. The floor is uniformly laid with natural marble, bringing an elegant and luxurious high-quality texture. The atrium area features a "boat" crafted from gradient silk, symbolizing the exclusive aerial perspective of the Dinning in the Clouds. The lobby walls continue the combination of cave stone and wood veneer, creating a warm home-like atmosphere. Hidden light strips soften the space's illumination. The scattered seating area's floor is adorned with natural marble and luxurious stone slabs, juxtaposing modern decorative beauty with traditional color schemes.

Artistic modern furniture accents the space, offering an immersive dining experience from top to bottom. The pure white spiral staircase serves as a dual focal point for spatial circulation and visual interest, imparting a unique sense of rhythmic beauty to the space. Hidden sliding doors in the second-floor private dining rooms isolate the noise and distractions from outside, while the wood-colored herringbone parquet extends the spatial experience. A curved white ceiling traverses the entire space, complemented by the natural movement of light, ultimately presenting a space of pure elegance. Solid wood furniture combines aesthetics with functionality, while white translucent jade sand glass partitions and Roman curtains maximize light and transparency.

This minimalist and brisk approach adds a touch of fashion and dynamic atmosphere to the entire space, allowing visitors to experience a restaurant environment with diverse personalities, where life and art seamlessly blend together.

Project Innovation/Need

The combination of materials and lighting can create rich light and shadow effects and atmospheres. By using transparent, translucent, or reflective materials in conjunction with lighting design, it is possible to create visual effects that are dreamy, mysterious, or distinctly modern. This not only enhances the spatial expression but also guides emotional experiences for viewers. I

n the design process, this project actively explores new material combinations, mixing or juxtaposing different materials to create unique visual effects and tactile experiences. Additionally, it focuses on innovative uses of materials, such as cutting, carving, and assembling through craftsmanship to deform and reassemble materials, presenting a completely new appearance and style.

Design Challenge

Due to the overall layout of the space being asymmetric and triangular in shape, meeting functional requirements while maximizing brand appeal and spatial harmony is essential for this project. The design approach employs fluidity, architectural vocabulary, and elements of the Yangtze River to plan the layout. It adopts themes of freedom, courage, and exploration to define the spatial style and presents the overall project creation in a structured manner.

Sustainability

In terms of material selection, this project emphasizes environmental friendliness and sustainability. It actively utilizes low volatile organic compound (VOC) paints, recyclable or biodegradable building materials, and wood certified for environmental sustainability. This approach not only reduces environmental impact but also enhances the quality and sophistication of the space, aligning with modern aspirations and expectations for green living. Additionally, choosing furniture and decorations made from renewable materials like bamboo and wood ensures durability and economy while minimizing environmental damage.

Incorporating energy-efficient devices such as LED lighting fixtures, energy-certified household appliances, and smart temperature control systems significantly reduces energy consumption and improves energy efficiency. Rational window layout and design reduce reliance on artificial lighting, thereby conserving energy. Natural light also enhances brightness and comfort in the space. Integrating green elements into the design, such as incorporating plants, creates a comfortable and natural dining environment. This not only injects ecological aesthetics into the space but also improves indoor air quality, enhancing the physical and mental well-being of diners.
