Airwheel SE3SL, an electric smart suitcase specially designed for modern travel, innovatively integrates the conventional suitcase’s storage capability with a ride-and-go feature, offering an efficient and convenient short-distance travel solution. By virtue of its side-opening storage design, mobile charging capability, and exclusive smart APP, the product not only addresses the challenge of the “last three kilometres”, but also brings users a brand-new travel experience, demonstrating a perfect blend of technology and life.

Project Brief

Conventional suitcases typically offer limited functionality and fail to meet the needs of short-distance travel. In response, Airwheel SE3SL innovatively amalgamates storage, mobility, charging, and other practical functionalities, aiming to solve the difficulties users face during short trips.

The product complies with international airline carry-on size specifications, allowing direct boarding without the need for check-in. This significantly saves time and energy for users, providing a more convenient travel experience.

Project Innovation/Need

- The core highlight lies in the ingenious integration of storage capability and an innovative ride-and-go feature, making Airwheel SE3SL ideal for travel across various scenarios. It boasts speeds of up to 9.9km/h, a 180mm telescopic handle, and a self-locking buckle structure, ensuring a smooth and safe ride. The suitcase is equipped with 5.2-inch vacuum foam tyres and a high-strength aluminium alloy frame, which allows a load capacity of up to 95kg, adaptable to various road conditions and user requirements.

- The product, coming with two sets of USB charging ports and a proprietary intelligent APP, supports cruise control, Bluetooth disconnection alerts, search functionality, and customizable route programming, establishing a comprehensive service ecosystem.

- In terms of appearance design, the central part of the suitcase is adorned with a circular logo depicting a tech-inspired animation character, complemented by cool LED lighting, giving the product a vibrant and technologically advanced look.

Design Challenge

The biggest challenge was how to improve user experience. To address that, Airwheel SE3SL prioritizes operational simplicity, which incorporates turnbuckles on the left and right sides of the handle for forward/backward and brake functions, greatly enhancing ease of use. It also strikes a balance between riding stability, durability and light weight. Moreover, the product supported by a dedicated smart APP offers features such as cruise control, Bluetooth disconnection alerts, search functionality, and customizable route programming, fully embodying the brand’s precise grasp of user needs and its humanistic care.

Sustainability

- The modular plug-and-play lithium battery design facilitates easy disassembly and reassembly without needing tools, which ensures smooth recyclability at the end of its lifespan, contributing to sustainable resource recycling.

- The lightweight yet high-strength ABS+PC composite material, paired with an aluminum alloy frame, makes the suitcase robust and durable with excellent wear resistance. This avoids frequent replacement, thereby reducing resource consumption and waste production.
