Project Overview
"Yadi Chengyun" is the signature piece of YADILO's K90 Series of aluminum system doors, aiming to fuse traditional Eastern cultural motifs with contemporary architectural language.
Serving high-end residential spaces, the door transcends its role as a security element to become a symbolic gateway that embodies both aesthetic value and cultural significance. The project reinterprets the auspicious Chinese “auspicious cloud” motif into a modern entrance piece that conveys blessings and dignity.

Project Brief
Inspired by the ancient Eastern totem of auspicious clouds (“Xiangyun”), this door design uses minimalist composition principles and CNC carving techniques to present a tactile and sculptural surface. The door panel is crafted from aerospace-grade aluminum with advanced anodized finishes that enhance its durability, corrosion resistance, and structural integrity.
A central relief pattern of intertwining clouds forms the visual and symbolic core of the design, representing prosperity and harmony. Custom handles (Model SL98), inspired by traditional ritual vessels, add a ceremonial presence to the entrance experience. Through its integration of form, material, and symbolism, the design embodies a modern interpretation of cultural heritage.
Project Innovation/Need
Cultural Redesign: This project challenges the conventional view of exterior doors as purely functional, reimagining them as cultural carriers. The traditional “auspicious cloud” motif is abstracted and refined into a design language suitable for contemporary homes.
Fusion of Structure and Art: Combining system-grade aluminum door engineering with CNC-carved artistic expression, the piece achieves a balance between performance and aesthetics.
Modular Customization: Users can select surface textures, finishes, and handle styles, allowing for flexible customization to meet diverse needs in upscale residential contexts.
Enhanced Sensory Experience: Every detail—from visual rhythm to tactile sensation—is designed to elevate the entrance as an emotional and ceremonial point of arrival.
Design Challenge
Modern Translation of Traditional Imagery: The primary challenge was to reinterpret the rich symbolism of “auspicious clouds” into a clean, contemporary visual form without losing the cultural depth and spiritual intent.
Material Performance vs. Artistic Texture: While aerospace-grade aluminum provides modern rigidity and longevity, the design needed to temper its industrial coldness with warmth and tactility, achieved through refined oxidation and surface relief techniques.
Balancing Functionality and Aesthetics: As an exterior architectural door, it must meet rigorous standards for wind resistance, corrosion prevention, insulation, and soundproofing—without compromising on the artistic vision.
Sustainability
Durable Materials: The use of aerospace aluminum ensures an extended lifespan, reducing the need for frequent replacements and promoting long-term energy and cost efficiency.
Eco-Friendly Processes: The door's surface treatments avoid volatile chemical processes, instead using CNC engraving and environmentally safe anodizing methods to minimize emissions.
Recyclable Components: All aluminum parts are 100% recyclable at the end of their service life, supporting circular economy principles in architectural materials.
Low-Waste Customization: The design promotes a made-to-order production model, reducing unnecessary inventory and raw material waste while supporting sustainable consumption practices.
