Project Brief

The Resibrane Jacket is designed with a simple, yet powerful principle: empower sustainability through technological innovation, blend functionality with beauty, and design for the rhythm of the outdoors. With its advanced RESIBRANE membrane and closed-loop recycling design, the jacket achieves a seamless fusion of nature, high performance, and fashion, enabling you to explore boldly with confidence, while leaving a lighter footprint on the planet.

Project Innovation/Need

The jacket features the world’s first eco-friendly RESIBRANE membrane, renowned for its wash durability. It retains over 95% of its waterproof performance after 30 washes, with a hydrostatic head exceeding 20,000 mm—far surpassing the industry standard, where performance typically declines after just 5 to 10 washes. This significantly extends the jacket’s lifespan, reducing resource waste and carbon emissions from frequent replacements. So, you get durable waterproofing while making a lighter environmental impact. Sustainability is embedded throughout its lifecycle. The fabric uses Sorona® bio-based fibers, sourced from plants that regrow year after year. This greatly reduces carbon footprint compared to synthetics. Color is locked in through solution dyeing, a process that uses far less water and generates fewer emissions than conventional techniques. The PFAS-free production eliminates persistent environmental pollutants. Even the trim components—including zippers, tapes, drawcords, labels, and printed/embroidered elements—are made from recycled materials, so the jacket can be fully recovered and reborn in a true circular system. This jacket integrates multiple innovations for real-world performance. Its dynamic cut is informed by sports biomechanics, featuring 3D tailoring and underarm gussets for both comfortable layering and free movement. Its ergonomic 135° sleeve pitch and articulated shoulder-sleeve construction provide a greater range of motion during activities. The updated Napoleon chest pocket works with backpacks and harnesses, keeping your essentials secure and accessible while using body heat to curb battery drain in cold conditions. Furthermore, the RECCO® rescue reflector and Cohaesive® multi-axis cord system deliver trusted safety and intuitive operation in demanding conditions.

Design Challenge

The main challenge in designing this jacket lay in seamlessly blending the beauty of nature with reliable outdoor performance. Addressing this, the design draws inspiration from resilient pine trees that thrive at high altitudes—embodying their strength, weather resistance, and ability to endure through all seasons. These qualities are reflected in the jacket’s durable, weather-proof construction. Its silhouette echoes the upward growth of the pine, resulting in a design that is both functional and naturally refined. Colorway also plays a key role in defining the jacket’s aesthetic. Each color is drawn from China’s majestic landscapes: Cinnabar Green from Abujicuo, Dark Bud Green from Kangrinboqe, and Snowcap Gray from Sapu Sacred Mountain. More than a color palette, it’s nature reimagined for modern life, bringing the quiet power of the wild into everyday style.

Sustainability

Innovative Membrane: Featuring the world’s first eco-friendly RESIBRANE membrane—renowned for its exceptional wash durability—this jacket is built to last. Its long-lasting performance significantly extends the jacket’s lifespan, reducing the need for frequent replacements and thereby lowering resource consumption and carbon emissions across production cycles. Renewable Fiber: The jacket incorporates Sorona® bio-based fibers derived from annually renewable plant sources. Compared to conventional synthetic fibers, producing one metric ton of Sorona® bio-based fibers reduces greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 37%. Additionally, color is embedded directly into the fibers through solution dyeing—a process that cuts water usage by about 60% per ton of fabric compared to traditional dyeing methods. Responsible Manufacturing: Finished with advanced PFAS-free waterproofing technology, the jacket eliminates the use of persistent pollutants. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances are a class of chemicals that resist degradation and pose long-term risks to ecosystems and human health. By removing them at the source, this design safeguards both the environment and the people who wear it.

Fashion that has exemplary wearability thus minimises energy consumption, water use and waste. These items will have a high score on the BETTER FUTURE Wearability Index.
