With the growing popularity of self-driving trips like road trips to high-altitude regions, vehicles have become modern people’s “mobile living spaces.” However, high-altitude journeys and long hours of driving in enclosed cabins can easily lead to oxygen deficiency, causing fatigue and reduced concentration and therefore posing risks to driving safety. Traditional oxygen concentrators are often bulky, noisy, and unstable in output, while portable oxygen cylinders have limited capacity, low oxygen concentration, and safety concerns. As a result, neither can meet the continuous oxygen supply required in vehicle settings. To overcome these challenges, the design team developed this innovative portable car oxygen concentrator. It is compatible with 220V household power outlets and vehicle’s 12V auxiliary power outlets, and delivers oxygen at concentrations of up to 93% within just one minute, offering efficient oxygen therapy with plug-and-play convenience. Powered by AI algorithms, the oxygen concentrator intelligently adjusts oxygen concentration parameters in real time according to ambient conditions, ensuring consistently precise and efficient oxygen supply. Built with a lightweight, space-efficient design, the device is 30% smaller than comparable models, maximizing the use of in-car space. It achieves professional-grade oxygen therapy within limited space, ensuring safety and comfort on every trip.

Project Innovation/Need

Intelligent oxygen supply system: Equipped with a high-performance AI chip, the system continuously monitors ambient air pressure, airflow changes, and the user’s breathing rate. Through intelligent algorithms, it automatically optimizes oxygen concentration parameters to ensure precise and stable oxygen concentration across varying conditions—such as changes in altitude, temperature, and vibrations during driving. The Portable Car Oxygen Concentrator supports adjustable oxygen concentrations from 30% to 93%, covering all scenarios from daily supplementation to intensive high-altitude oxygen therapy. Dual power for car and home use: Compatible with both 12V auxiliary power outlets and 220V household power outlets, it automatically detects the power source and adjusts output accordingly to ensure stable, efficient oxygen delivery for both travel and home use. Optimized for in-vehicle use: Built to fit seamlessly into vehicle cabins while withstanding road vibrations, the device features a flat rectangular form that is 30% smaller than the industry average, allowing flexible placement under the center console, inside the armrest compartment, or in the trunk—without occupying passenger space, maximizing space efficiency. Its low center of gravity and internal shock-absorbing structures ensure stable operation even on rugged, high-altitude roads.

Design Challenge

The challenge lies in seamlessly integrating the oxygen concentrator into vehicles. To address this, the design team carried out systematic optimizations in both functionality and appearance. Functionally, real-time display of oxygen concentration, flow rate, and other key parameters allows users to monitor in-cabin oxygen levels and make timely adjustments. The innovative modular layered structure with separated oxygen concentration, heat dissipation, and control modules, enhances cooling efficiency by 40% and reduces noise by 15% compared with traditional integrated designs, delivering a more comfortable oxygen therapy experience. Aesthetically, the device features a flat rectangular form with rounded edges, delivering a minimalist, high-tech yet approachable look. This design subtly reduces the cold, mechanical feel associated with medical devices. The primary deep gray color, accented with a piano lacquer finish, conveys a sense of reliability, perfectly complementing automotive interiors. A side-mounted touchscreen paired with a clean, intuitive UI ensures effortless operation while enhancing the product’s technological appeal, making the oxygen concentrator a smart companion that blends seamlessly with the cabin.

The main body of the product is made of high-strength, recyclable ABS material and features a modular design, enhancing ease of maintenance and future upgrades while effectively extending the product’s lifespan and reducing waste at the source. Compatible with both vehicle and household power outlets, it meets oxygen needs across multiple scenarios, reducing resource consumption associated with purchasing other oxygen concentrators, reflecting a commitment to sustainable design.
