Project Brief
Energy Balancer aims to help people make better, more informed decisions about their diet and exercise.
There's a ton of diet apps already in the market but what makes Energy Balancer unique is its playful, accessible and inventive approach to burning off kilojoules.
Project Need
Studies* have shown that we are less inclined to indulge in 'naughty' foods if we know how long it takes to work them off.
Energy Balancer makes it easy for you to see the difference between eating a sushi roll or having a hamburger for lunch. It also highlights which activities are most effective at burning off kilojoules.

User Experience
Energy Balancer tailors each result to your weight (e.g. 60kg), which helps ensures the advice is accurate. You then chose either energy in (food) or energy out (activity).
Let's say you start with 'food' and select 8 pieces of Meat Lover's pizza. To see how long it will take to burn that off, select an activity from the list e.g. 'Line Dancing' - 8 hours 34 mins; or 'Laundry' - 11 hours 21 mins.
Alternatively, you can start with an activity e.g. - after 1 hour of basketball training you can enjoy 7 rice paper rolls or 3/4 of a BBQ chicken and chips.
Project Marketing
Energy Balancer is available for everyone - not just Medibank members. It has been marketed through all of our channels.
